Acronis True Image 11 Home on Windows Server 2008

Thread needs solution

We are trying to image an HP DL380 G6 running 32-bit Windows Server 2008 using Acronis True Image 11 Home and we seem to be having some issues when trying to run the Acronis restore process. When we boot the machine into the Acronis loader and click the recovery button to start the recovery process, the screen where you select the device that contains the *.tib file you want to restore will not show the internal dvd drive at all.

If we attach an external drive to the machine we can only see the files if we put the Acronis boot disk in the external at boot time. If we boot using the internal dvd drive no files will be recognized by the software.

We are trying to deploy this image on machines that have been sysprepped or are brand new.

Has anyone seen this problem before and how can I fix it?

Hello itsamemario,

Let me assist you.

First of all, please be aware that Acronis True Image 11 Home doesn't support Microsoft Server 2008, you should try Acronis Backup&Recovery server editions to work with that OS.

As for the issue itself, it seems that the standard bootable media doesn't have necessary driver for your DVD drive, so I may recommend you to use a special version of bootbale CD available in your account:

  1. Log in to your account (if you do not have one, you will need to create it);
  2. Once logged in, click My Products & Downloads:

  3. Scroll down to the registered product and click Bootable Media:

  4. Click Download:

  5. Acronis Bootable Media will be downloaded as an ISO file. See Burning an ISO Image.

Please reply to this thread if you need any additional help.

Thank you.
