Acronis true image 11- problem with bootable rescue media
We have two Toshiba laptops (same model, etc, bought within days of each other) and we installed Acronis True Image Home 2011 (bought on line from Acronis) on each. Trial versions had been installed earlier and were removed prior to installing the full versions.
The result is the same - I have burned a CD-R from an ISO and I burned a CD-R from ATIH2011
Here is what happens:
The laptop will boot from the CD - however...
Acronis loader appears in white text in the upper left corner, then
The home page appears with the choices of "Run Full Version," "Create Report," "Back to Windows"
(I have never clicked the Back to Windows icon,)
If I click either the "Run Full Version," or "Create Report," icons,
A colorful splash screen with Acronis True Image Home 2011 comes up for a few seconds, then
The screen goes black with a white blinking cursor in the upper left corner, then
The screen goes completely black, with no activity from the CD or internal disk drives.
End of story.
I found out about the F11 key and remove the "quiet" command trick to get the system report and tried that. The results were the same.
HERE IS THE KICKER...
Finally, I have another, older laptop with Acronis TI Home 2010 installed that came with a CD. I tried the 2010 CD and both laptops work just fine!!!!!
There must be something simple here - maybe something left over from the earlier trial installation?
Is the "Super Moon" thing to blame here, or what??

Pat L: Thanks for getting back to me! Let's take your comments in turn...
- I will try the repair install
- I have already registered and tried the ISO to no avail
- I am not familiar with the SAFE media plugin - I will look into this
- Yes, I have contacted Acronis support and have been referred to Tier II . I am waiting to hear back
A trial version of ATIH 2011 had been installed. I removed it and installed ATIH 2011 6696 via the download link Acronis provided.
WHERE DO I GET THE 2011 CLEANUP UTILITY?
Thanks in advance,

Have you found a solution to your problem? I have exactly same symptoms - Acronis TI 2011 Trial, Toshiba laptop, black screen after logo

YES!!!!! It was fixed by adding the ATIH 2011 Plus Pack and creating a WIN PE boot disk. A senior tech support person (had to get past the 1st level fellow - very nice, but not as knowledgeable) put me on to this. Microsoft makes WIN PE available in 3 flavors - Vista SP1, Vista SP2 & Win 7 - these come as a large ISO (free download) and you must burn a DVD (I used a DVD-R), then use the DVD to install the proper flavor of WIN PE onto the laptop. You have to jump through a few hoops and then create a special (about twice the normal size) Acronis Rescue CD that uses WIN PE to boot. All of this is a bit of a hassle to go through, but this baby simply cannot miss! It works like a champ - get a SENIOR tech support person involved. The instructions are here on this site also.
And in addition...
Surprisingly, ATIH 2010 works just fine with the Toshiba laptops but you must remove ATIH 2011 first.
http://trinitysoftwaredistribution.com has ATIH 2010 OEM pretty reasonable at this time ($22.00 for the CD mailed USPS First Class to my home).
Hope all this helps!
