Acronis True Image 2009 does NOT perform a restore!

Thread needs solution

I have a HP Pavillion DV7 which originally was running Windows XP and after the hard disk failed and was replace Windows 7 Pro was installed. I did not have Acronis at this point.

Next step was to reinstall all of my applications. Shorty after I bought Acronis True Image Home 009 and made a full Image backup and have made several more since then. All the the backups I can access and copy files from them.

Recently the hard drive started failing so I bought a SSD to replace it and attempted to clone the hard drive which was still working but the Acronis Clone failed but a full Image backup of the existing hard disk worked.

Because the clone failed I then installed Windows 7 Pro from the original disk. Installed Acronis and attempted to do a restore which failed.

I have re-installed Windows 7 and Acronis and attempted to do another restore but from a different full image backup. The restore finished step 2 of 3 and the attempted to perform a restart but came back with a message  Bootmng file missing Pre ctl+alt+del.

Pressing ctl+alt+del return the same message even with a flash drive which has the bootmng on it.

I have al attempted manually copying the folders I need but I cannot copy the Windows and system folders.

After the first failed restore I contacted support and it was suggested to install Acronis 2021 or Acronis cyber protect and they supplied links for both. Both failed to install.

Has anyone got any ideas as to how to restore my system?

Ken, welcome to these public User Forums.

The first issue here is that ATI 2009 was released before Windows 7 was announced or available and it does not support being used with that version of Windows.

The ATI 2009 User manual shows the following supported Windows versions:

1.3.2 Supported operating systems
Acronis True Image Home has been tested on the following operating systems:
Windows XP SP 3
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition SP2
Windows Vista SP 1 (all editions)

ATI 2021 should be able to restore your backup file created by ATI 2009 (see the link in my signature to Backup archive compatibility) but you would need to uninstall ATI 2009 before you can install 2021.

If you have created the ATI 2009 bootable rescue media, then you could try booting your PC from that media and trying to do the restore in that way.  Note: if you have registered ATI 2009 to your Acronis Account, then you could also download an ISO image of the rescue media to burn to a CD disc.
