Acronis True Image 2010: Freezing when trying to access FTP

Thread needs solution

To whom this may concern,

I have been having more and more issues with Acronis True Image 2010 freezing when I try to access my FTP share (which is where all of my images are stored).

It just sits at "Processing" and does nothing.

I am running Acronis True Image 2010 Build 5,055.

Hello Ilya,

I will do everything possible in order to resolve the issue you experience.

First of all please make sure that you are using the latest build of the program. Check it in Help -> About. You can always download the latest build of the program from your account under Registered Products.

If the issue persists please use the following step-by-step troubleshooting guide to diagnose the issue and find proper solution for you.

Also as a workaround try doing the following:

  • Increase timeout for idle control connection in the settings of FTP server;
  • Set the size value in Archive splitting settings to 200 MB (Tools -> Options -> Default backup options).

Let us know if the issue persists.

Hi Dima,

I apologize, but I completely forgot that I made this post. Having issues again so this reminded me.

I checked my FTP server (XP SP3 machine running Bulletproof FTP Server 2.3.1) and I don't have a setting for "Idle Control Connection" so I can't increase that setting.

Next time I have to image a newer model, I'll try the Archive Splitting setting. I assume this is done within the Acronis program installed on my PC? I'll have to recreate the backup media?

Hello Ilya,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Yes, you can set the archive splitting in the backup options (we recommend to split the archive into 2GB pieces). Please check Chapter 9.3.6 of the User's Guide for more detailed information.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you.
