acronis true image 2010 plus pack

Thread needs solution

Hi friends,

Two problems.
1. Before I installed plus pack, I ran just home image 2010. I was able to back up.
But when I tried to test it by clicking on "recovery" it won't find my external hard drive, where I saved the back up.

So I went ahead and installed plus pack.
When I start the program, and click on Backup, program says, "it stopped working". It freezes.

2. I created bootable cd from within home 2010.
After not able to find the hard drive, I went to account downloaded iso image and burned to CD.
Still it is also not recognizing the ext. hard drive.

Need your help.

Thank you.

Is this external connected to a network or NAS, etc?

What size is the external?

Which version of Windows?

Plus pack only needed if recovering to a different hardware such as a different motherboard.
Pluspack not neede to restore a backup to an old or new drive to be used on the same computer that was backed up.

When recovering or restoring a system disk, it is best done when booted from the TI Recovery CD rather than from within Windows.

Sometimes the connection to USB can be very tricky.
If desktop, connect to a rear connector. If laptop, try a different connector.
Do not use a hub, connect direct.
Use a different usb cable.
If usb3, connect via usb2 both in cable and connector.
Try powering/connecting the external at different times such as both before and after you have selected the TI menu option.
Try connecting after the program has started.
Often times I have found that I had to power up first and then after the program s started, I input the usb cable.

Grover,

PC is connected to external hard drive sea gate 3 TB size. No network.
It is windows 7 Home premium.

I uninstalled plus pack and TI 10. Reinstalled just TI 10.
Tried to backup system files and it freezes saying, "program stopped working". So it is not working both in Backup and Recovery.
This is desktop and connected to back usb and it comes with unique cable.
Tried connecting ext. hard drive both before and after starting the TI program, still same result.

Is this ploy to make me to upgrade to TI 14? :(

First, please correct your terminology about TrueImage otherwise you will get wrong answers.
If the version iw 2010, then refer to as 2010 as there is also a version 10 still in use from many years back.

if the version is 2014, then refer to it as 2014. Abbreviating gets wrong answers.

Is this possbly a usb3 disk?

Another option you can try is to try the test version of 2014.
Sign up for the trial version.
REgister the trail version serial number.
After registration, download just the ISO bootable media file.
After downloading the ISO file, then if using Win7, Right click on the iso file and choose the "open with" Windows Disk image Burner option which will burn a new 2014 trial bootable Recovery CD. This will enable you to test whether 2014 is an answer. This 2014 trial CD is only enabled as a recovery CD and does not do backups or anything else.

Grover,
I had old True Image 2010.
I downloaded trial 2014 and it worked.
So I am going to upgrade to 2014.

Thank you.
