Acronis True Image 2010 Trial version installation gets an error
Acronis True Image 2010 Trial version installation gets an error. I just downloaded this trial version twice with same results.
The error is: "The installation was interupted before Acronis True Image Home could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again"
Anyone know what's going on here & how to correct it? I have tried turning of all of my internet security & that didn't help. I am running it as an administrator.
Thanks & have a great day!!
Jim

Hi Dmitry,
I have a similar problem as described in this post. I'm in the process of testing ATI Home 2010. First, I tried to remove my ATI Home 2009 from my Windows XP pro machine using Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs. It failed with "Fatal error during installation". Then, I tried reinstalling ATI Home 2009 -> Repair, but it failed with "The installation was interupted before Acronis True Image Home could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again". Then, I tried reinstalling ATI Home 2009 -> Remove, but it failed in the same way as "Repair". I've tried your workarounds described in this post but the problem didn't go away. So, I generated MSI log per your suggestion: ATI_install_fail.log as the attached.
Please let me know what should I do at this point. I have recently successfully restored my unbootable system disk from a backup made by Acronis True Image Home 2009 trial version, which it's the first time I have tried restoration from a backup. I'm glad the tool actually works. So, I'd like to purchase 2010 version after trying it out.
Thanks and happy new year.

Hi Dmitry,
I've manually uninstalled it following the steps in article kb1809. I'm wondering if I'll have problem installing ATIH 2010 if I have problem removing version 2009 normally.
By the way I've deleted the attached log file since it's quite large. But if you are interested I can send it to you.
Happy new year.

Hello Shuaibin,
Sorry for the delayed response.
Actually, you have used the correct solution - if your installation interrupts, you should try uninstalling the product manually first.
Most probably you won't face the issue with the newest version installation. However, please collect MSI log with Acronis software as Dmitry instructed in previous reply and attach it to your answer in this thread, so I can analyze it and determine the cause of the issue.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Regards,

Hi Alexander,
Thanks for your reply. See the attachment for MSI log I mentioned earlier. By the way I've order a copy of ATIH2010 and should receive it in a few days. I'm wondering if I can use the ATIH2010 CD or DVD to boot and backup my system drive before installing the ATIH2010 into my hard drive. In case I have problem after installing the software I'll have a backup to restore from.
Thanks.

Hello Shuaibin,
Unfortunately, we didn't receive the installation log from you.
Could you please attach it once again to your reply or send a Private Message to me or to Alexander with the MSI Log file?
Additionally, you can boot off the software CD to create a full backup of your system if you've ordered a boxed version of the software.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

Hello Court,
Thank you for the provided information.
According to the log file you've attached, you're trying to install the software over the existing installation and there are some entries in Windows Registry that can't be removed automatically for some reasons, so you need to delete them manually.
Open the following branch of the system registry (Start -> Run -> regedit) on the problem machine:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UpgradeCodes
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Features
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\UpgradeCodes
Search for the key starting with C9B4E34C. Having found the registry key, you should delete and start the installation of the Acronis product over again. This solution applies only to cases in which there was a previously installed Acronis product on the machine.
Please reply to this thread if the issue still persists.
Thank you.

Hello Ilya,
I have the same problem as the original poster when installing the True Image Home 2010 software. I have tried the first solution of unregistering the installer and then registering it again, however I continue to get the same message (included pic). I have run the MSI log program and included the log file with this post. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Will,
In your case the situation is similar to Court's one. Please have a look at my previous comment about the Windows Registry. However you should search for another entry - A69F1F2C.
Please delete this key from the necessary registry branches and the installation should run flawlessly.
Please reply to this thread if the issue still persists.
Thank you.

Hey Guys
I have the same problem as Will with Acronis True Image Home 2010 Trial Version. I have done everything what you suggested, but I think the issue is also located in the registry. It would be nice, if one of you can analyse my attached log-file.
Thank you :)

Hello Clemens,
Welcome to our forum and thank you for posting. I will definitely help you with resolving this.
I appreciate the provided msi log. Most likely an older/previous version is preventing the program from getting installed.
Please search for this registry key: F8656FA0 and try deleting it.
Just in case, you can always contact our Support team directly if you need immediate assistance.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
