Acronis True Image 2013 failures

Thread needs solution

File and disk backups fail to run once the version limit is reached. Whenever the version limit is reached (5, 10, whatever), the backup fails to run. If I clean up the versions myself, it starts running again.

Weirdly, if I reconnect to my NAS (Synology DiskStation), the backup runs, but does not consolidate the versions or delete the prior chain.

Same deal with a backup to my ftp site: once it hits the cleanup stage, it fails. I can reconnect, at which point it runs, but doesn't consolidate the versions or delete the prior chain.

Thoughts? It's a real drag having to start a series of backups over again each time I reach the consolidate stage.

Thanks,
Craig

Did you set a limit in the backup task (oldest backup date, total # of backups, or total disk size of backups)? That's the way to do it, and it will delete according to the limits, not do a consolidation.

Check out the many user guides and tutorials in the left margin of this forum, particularly Getting Started and Grover's True Image Guides which are illustrated with step-by-step screenshots.
In particular, 29618: Grover's new backup and restore guides http://forum.acronis.com/forum/29618

My backup has started giving me an error with only a minute remaining of the backup process.
When I click "retry", I get the same error message.
I don't know if my backup is good or not, I don't even know how to delete the current backup and start another one.
I can't get anyone to reply on "chat" and I can't locate an email for tech support.
I'm stuck - like Chuck.

Dear Tuttle --

Thanks for this reply. I think I have set the limitations appropriately, but when it gets to the last incremental bck, the job fails each and every time thereafter and it does not delete the prior chain. I've attached the settings in a screen grab.

Does the backup folder have sufficient space? It would need to hold two full version chains (two full backups plus 20 incrementals), plus at least another full backup which would begin the third chain.

Thanks for your advice. There is more than 3x the amount of space required, maybe 4x. It can't be space, because when I reestablish the connection, it works. Otherwise, I get an error saying that True Image cannot open the file on my NAS. It's ridiculous, because if I throw out a few increments, it works fine. The jobs only start failing when it gets to the last incremental bck in the chain and it needs to cleanup the chain.

Very frustrating. Thanks for trying to help. Does Acronis support their products at all or is this user forum the only option?

Thanks,
Craig
