Acronis True Image 2014 only choice in Win 7 Backup or Restore Control panel
I have True Image 2014 installed on two Win 7 Pro desktops.
Trueimage can be executed normally (via desktop icon or program menu selection) on both machines.
Windows 7 Backup or Restore control panel:
On one machine, Win 7 Backup or Restore Appears as I expect in the Control panel
On the other machine, only TrueImage 2014 is available in the Win 7 Backup or Restore Control Panel...I cannot access or execute Microsoft's Backup or Restore functionality.
I want to be able to use Microsoft's functionality via the Win 7 Control panel in addition to invoking True Image via an icon or program menu selection.
Thanks.

Enchantech wrote:I found the solution on sevenforums.com to edit the registry. Copy/paste text below in Notepad and save it as .reg
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsBackup] "ValidConfig"=-[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsBackup\ScheduleParam s] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsBackup\Security] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsBackup\Status]
Now double click the file to add the info to registry: when you reopen backup and restore it should appear back as normal

Any other way to do this than dink with the registry? What if I uninstalled TrueImage? I use REVO Uninstaller which says it cleans what registry settings it can find related to the app? Would that restore the Win 7 backup on the control panel? Thanks.

You could give that a try however Revo would only be looking for entries related to TI and not Win Backup and Restore so I doubt it would restore functionality to the Windows Backup feature. Keep in mind that your situation has occurred to others not using True Image so the two are probably not related.
