Acronis True Image 2015 and 8Tb backup drive

Thread needs solution

My customer got Acronis True Image 2015 in that year (2015) and was using it with a 1Tb hard drive which is now full.  He bought a Seagate 8Tb backup drive now and said that it said (in their paperwork) not to use Acronis with it, but to use their own Seagate backup software. Does the NEW 2017 Acronis True Image (no matter what Seagate says) work with the 8Tb drive even if the 2015 version doesn't?

A lot of hard drive backup software is junk and does not allow scheduled backups and other features paid for software like Acronis True Image allows.

Gary, welcome to these user forums.

The key to any software working with drives larger than 2.2TB is in using GPT for the drive format and having a Windows OS version that supports the use of GPT drives, depending on how the Seagate 8TB drive will be connected, i.e. either USB, eSATA, or as a Network drive.

See the ATIH 2017 User Guide: Supported storage media which gives a more definitive list of what is supported.

There should be no issue with using ATIH 2017 to backup to the Seagate 8TB drive.
