Is Acronis True Image 2015 compatible with Stardock Start10???

Thread needs solution

My Windows 10 system runs flawlessly and file and system backups with Acronis True Image 2015 run and complete without incident. However, when I installed Start10 (which I truly would like to use) my PC becomes extremely sluggish after completing backups. An indication that something is amiss is that an icon for the Acronis True Image Monitor (TrueImageMonitor.exe) that appears in the taskbar notification area during backups remains even though the backup completes successfully.

Uninstalling Start10 returns my PC to its original performance and the icon for the Acronis True Image Monitor once again disappears after a backup is completed.

If anyone else is using Acronis True Image 2015 and Start 10 with Windows 10, I would love to know if you have or have not had a similar experience.

It would be best to check with the manufacturer of Start10 for any compatibility issues. You may need to reinstall the Start10 product after having disabled the Acronis product for example to get things working. Some experimentation on your part may be necessary to achieve success.

Thank you for your comment. I have three PCs, on two of which I had not yet installed Start10, but are exhibiting the same problem as the one with Start10 installed. I was mistaken with my earlier observation. I had not observed long enough and with enough variations.

Doing some further experimentation and observation shows that The True Image Monitor process does not complete what it is doing at the same time Acronis True Image 2015 completes a backup. Opening the Windows Task Manager and observing the level of memory used by the True Image Monitor, one can see that memory is released very slowly with time. When the memory usage drops low enough the True Image Monitor icon in the notification area of the task bar disappears. In some cases it took nearly 40 minutes for the True Image Monitor memory usage to drop low enough. Once the icon disappears indicating that the True Image Monitor process has completed its task, my PCs return to full functionality. Before then all three of my PCs run extremely sluggishly and if I try to run any other program, strange behavior ensues. Perhaps the problem is only with my three PCs, but I am surprised that Acronis has not seen this problem. By the way, I only see the problem when I run a manual backup. When a scheduled backup runs , it usually runs at night and I do not see the problem in the morning. That is because True Image Monitor has time to complete its task before I access the PC's again. I did not have this problem with Acronis True Image 2014. The PCs actually exhibit identical behavior with and without Start10.

You might have discovered an incompatibility between the Start10 product and True Image Monitor. Below is a link of the True Image processes and services. You can, after uninstalling the Start10 product, disable these using the Windows Task Manager. Make note of how each process and service is set when doing so whether set to start manually or automatically. Once disabled install the Start10 product. After the Start10 product is installed restart your machine. Once restarted perform a backup task using True Image and note the results. Have a look at Task Manager again and note any of the processes and services that have changed from the original settings if any. If things have improved for you and you note a change in the start status of one or more of the processes and services then you might have found the incompatibility. You can attempt to change back any of the processes and services to their original configuration and see if that changes things or not. With some luck things might just start working as expected.

I installed ATI2016 and all my Acronis True Image Monitor issues have disappeared. No more lockups!
