Acronis True Image 2015 for PC Installation failed on my new laptop. (Windows 8.1 Pro)

Thread needs solution

I got a new laptop (Lenovo E540) with Windows 8 installed. When I tried to install the Acronis True Image 2015 on this laptop, I got a installation failed message as:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information.

Your issue is with Windows from what I can find. Have you tried to run Windows Update? If you run Windows Update do updates succeed or fail?

One fix I could find was that Windows Module Installer service was not running. You can find this in services.msc which you can use Windows Search to find on your computer. You may have to enable "Show hidden files and folders" to view and access services.msc. Once you have located services.msc open the file and a window will appear that list all services running on your computer. Scroll down the list and find Windows Module Installer. You will see under the status column the current state of the service which should be Manual. If you left click on the service you can select it. If you then right click on the service a context menu will appear from which you can choose properties which will display among other things the "Startup Type" which again should be "Manual" If is set to "Disable" you can change from clicking on the drop down arrow on the right side of the box displaying the startup type. Below that you will also find a button that will enable you to start the service.
