Acronis True Image 2015 update from 2014
Hi
I have bought Acronis True Image 2014. I receieved an update for 2015.
I looked up all the good and bad points on this web forum, most read to avoid upgrading.
I then emailed Acronis asking for advise, i received a reply back asking to to go onto the web Forums. ???? which i had already done.!!!
Can anyone please help and advise if the upgrade is worth going for.
Will the upgrade be more benifit?
Wil i loose any of the feauture from my current 2014 version?

I would highly recommend avoiding 2015 at this time. I foolishly upgraded thinking it would solve the few minor annoyances I had with 2014.
But now I have a big mess. My formerly stable system has been experiencing lockups requiring pulling the plug to reboot. All my previous backup tasks are useless, I had to create new ones.
I've experienced failed backups due to to "decompression errors" and "read error or metadata content is corrupted", along with backups that just won't run with no explanation given.
All the previous detail that was available at a glance on the main screen is now gone, you no longer get any sense of which backup has run recently and almost no detail about the backups. Instead, when you click on an individual backup, you get a giant pane in the detail section with a lot of empty space.
If you get an error, just try to find the log file to find out what went wrong, that's an adventure in itself.
Combine that with the delayed reaction with black screen when trying to click on things, and you get a horrible experience all around.
Lots of additional problems that other users are experiencing, so save yourself a big headache and stick with a version that works, even if it's not perfect. This version is nearly useless.

AS I told before in another post the statement which says that the upgrade is not working is not true ,it may be true for SOME users unfortunately but they should give more details on their configuration ; did they properly uninstall the former version whatever it is ? Is there anything wrong in the registry ? Give a try with CC cleaner ; clean your drive from any and all temp files if not already done and there are a lot of other things to do but if you look for help give more indications on your configuration .

To suddenly appear and post glowing messages all over the place saying everyone who is having problems is wrong seems a little fishy. Are you an Acronis employee trying to do damage control?
There have been over 1500 posts and nearly 300 topics posted within the couple of weeks since this release, nearly all of them describing problems most of us seem to be having.
But you say everything is ok so everyone can relax, we're all just imagining these problems.
And if you're suggesting that people use a program to clean up their registry, that's dangerous and bad advice.

Some points : 1)Sudden appearance is normal for a new user there is nothing there to be astonished of ;Not a great welcome !
2) I never claimed that everyone having problems is wrong ; and I am away from Acronis interests ; of course I am not an Employee and if I were I would take care not to answer the way I do ;
3) what I say is just the following : if many ( I suppose so ) users have this program functioning and others don't - for a variety of reasons ( they do not mention the same problem )- this proves 3 assertions : first , the program is able to work fine ; second they may be issues which are not program related ; third , it is possible that the program has been tested but clearly not on every possible configuration so it may appear as normal that some bugs are present and remains ; if things would have turned the same for me I would be evidently among complainers ; I never said "Hi , the program works fine for me, sleep well" ; never . So If you want to discuss , please stick to what is said without torturing the posts in a dishonest way .
Moreover , in last recourse there are tickets which can be addressed to TECH support ; I do not understand why complaining a lot without doing this ; true , Tech Support does NOT answer immediately ; but they do and once they have begun to answer they follow quite accurately ; if that was not sufficient ; there is a control about tech support and you can give notes ; all that said does not , by any means , suggest that the problems - I repeat , of very various nature - many are experiencing just have to be ignored .
Finally , you end your post by saying that "And if you're suggesting that people use a program to clean up their registry, that's dangerous and bad advice." I would be delighted to know why ? I used several cleaners of the registry ; I use different uninstallers ,; it is not possible for me to know wether by uninstalling previous versions of ATI , there are remnants or not ; if there are , they can conflict with a new version especially within the registry ; anyway this was just a suggestion one is free to follow or not ; and you may well be right on some point ; the malworking of the program can be due to a lot of other causes than registry ; but if your pC is reasonably clean , it may help to diagnose where the problem is lying otherwise a doubt may remain .
A last thing : I read complains which are in my view inacceptable because the statements are wrong ; my ethics is to protest but nobody is forced to do so

User TCHAPAIEV is offering some fix suggestions for those having actual problems.
I support the suggestions he has offered via post #3 & 5.
His suggestions cannot help the many who have voiced their disappointment in the features offered by the program. But, for those individuals with actual problems with the installation or functions of the program, he is suggesting normal troubleshooting solutions which is to isolate the problem to as few causes as possible.
Before upgrading, every user contemplating a change or addition of backup software (or any major program) should perform a full disk image backup using whatever backup program is currently installed on their computer. This procedure is something which should be done before upgrading ANY program--not just for Acronis. This prevention step is often bypassed and when trouble arises, the user finds themselves in trouble with no easy recovery. This backup is your recovery mechanism to get you back to your starting point.
For some users who want a simplified backup program, the 2015 may be that program. For the user which like the looks and feel of prior versions, 2015 is totally different and has been a disappointment for many--as posted on the forum.

i will not upgrade to verion 2015. It would be great if any updates to help resolve bugs mentioned in 2015 version are offered soon.

Just thinking about former posts and disregarding those which for good or less good reasons decide NOT to upgrade to version 2015 , I add those few remarks ; aside from what I mentioned , in order to circumvent the trouble ( which might be NOT an easy task ) it is necessary to run chkdsk when curious problems appear ; Acronis program is extremely sensitive to Disc's health ; and no wonder ; it cannot work from a bad disc ; by bad I do not mean "really" bad , that is unworkable with ; small errors are sufficient . Acronis has a TOOL called Acronis Drive Monitor which is free (!!!! ) and downloadable from the Acronis site ( where ? I forgot unfortunately bat it is easy to find on the support page ) ; running that program is extremely useful although there are some more or less wrong alerts but that's up to you to decide what is wrong or exaggerated ; anyway the program is linked to Windows events log which is sometimes not so easy to read or access ; and the events relative to the drives 's health are recorded in clear ; This consultation is vital ; nobody is forced to follow this advice but......... having discovered this tool ( I have others on my PC but this one is free and should be considered as FIRST AID) I would say that for a free tool it is brilliant . It will NOT cure you of lethal disease and
will not bring the breakfast on your bed ...
Second , black screens do appear on my PC also when I launch the program or move from one function to the other ; the time of duration of those are relatively short ; the PC does not hang - it does while the black screen is there of course ; what can be the origin of these black screens? Well , you must know that the light's speed is limited ; the CPU'S speed is what is given by the constructor and the same is valid for the GPU of your video card ;the program - I guess , I am from far no specialist or IT - makes constant back and forth writing and reading from your disc ; the TIME to find the relevant information - PROVIDED the disc is in good health - is limited by several factors that are definitely not program dependant but hardware dependant . Slow disc writing and / or Reading , CPU 's power and computer 'speed , GPU speed are factors among others ; I had a program 2 years ago that did not want to display correctly for important settings ; so I screamed at the vendor that the program was malfunctioning ; the support did its best and did not come to any issue; finally I discovered that my Video card was malfunctioning ...... There are ways to test the video card but it depends on the manufacturer ; usually they have a game ( video game) they use as test ; unfortunately I do not have the name of that test game under my hand ; I browsed my PC but I have so many downloaded programs that a first glance was not enough; this video game does NOT have to be installed in paid version; you just run the demo ; when you do that and it is not fluid on your screen you are done ; do not look elsewhere ; of course this does not explain why former versions work ; the design and probably the whole code of the program is different ; it has to work with the terrible - not installed on my machine - Windows 8.1 and therefore ..... everything can be suspected .
A last word ; I come back to the cleaning remarks ; even if they are no remnants visible from a previous install there might be strange people there ; Microsoft has a tool named " uninstall cleaner " ; again I have not the reference here but the name is mscuii7.2 , something of that kind ; it is a very light and free tool ; just install and then browse through the list of installed programs on your machine ; you might well be very surprised ;all that said it might not help to solve your problem but given the number of complaints about black screens , I have to infer that my observations could be of some pertinence ; hopefully so .

2014 worked fine for me and 2015 is working fine too.
Clearly there are problems, but not for everyone - that's why there's the 30-day trial option.

Trial option is always possible but if your PC has something going wrong reverting to a former version supposedly working is everything but to understand what exactly is going wrong .......... maybe that helps to sleep for some time ; .........
Example : you have an allergy but you do not know that you are allergic ; suddenly a meal gives you some problem; you may decide that this meal is not for you or.... dig a little further ........

Thank you for saying that. I chip in only to try to add weight to this sound advice.
Registry cleaners are the devil's plaything. They have bought otherwise functioning PCs to their knees.
Nor should you need them to fix the mess that is TI2015.

Thanks for the feedback maybe it depends on the windows version you/we are running or anti virus software might be blocking causing problems. To be honest I tried updating to version 2015 last night, im having problems paying via PayPal. I don't have any issues or problems paying with paypay when on other sites just this site! ? when trying to update to version 2015.
I'm running windows XP
On Dell 630

no one besides Darkspace described his equipment and especially the operating system version so far. I think, different experiences might arise from different operating systems.
I´m running Windows 8.1 with all updates on a Dell laptop Inspiron 17-7737 with a screen resolution of 1920x1024 - and I´m very disapointed by ATI2015.
I´m mentioning the screen resolution because I made the experience, that sometimes when I want to make a selection in ATI2015 I have to click somewhere up to 1 inch away from the checkbox I want to hit. It might be a simple design problem of the ATI2015 GUI.

Yes. I did think that information was thin on the ground.
I installed TI2015 on my Windows 7 installation, Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601.
Windows 7 Home Pro 64-bit + Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 + AMD Phenom II X6 1055T + 8GB Corsair XMS3 1600
I have dual monitors. 1920X1080 and 1680X1050.
On Monday I will be able to try it on two 1920X1080s. A new one is stuck with a truly hopeless courier.
The graphics card is AMD Radeon (14.301.1001-140915a-176154C) in Catalyst Version 14.9.
I know what you mean about resolution being important. There have been various problems over on the Logitech self-support forum, from people who, thanks to some wonky coding, could not see that Enter button when installing software.
The symptoms I see in TI2015 are very slow response adn eccentric screen writing. I can move the TI window around the screen and it leaves bits of itself behind.
Nothing else behaves like that.

Additional remark: I refer to build 5539. On a different post in this forum from Oct 5th a guy mentioned a build Beta 5554. He claimed it works better. I wonder why I didn´t get the offer to use that build at my contacts to the support. Maybe this build is too "experimental".

Same build here. With such a bug storm going on, I haven't pestered support with complaints.
It is obvious that things are happening. And they seem to be working on the issues that I see.
If the new version arrives before my 30-days is up, I will see if it fixes my problems before filing a support request. If nothing happens soon, then it will be back to cleverbridge for a refund.

I did the upgrade even though I had previous problems with Acronis and their stupid at times, tech support people. I have been using True Image since 2009 and had very few problems until they came out with the 2014 version. It restored corrupt files when backing up through Windows 7. I had to resort to using the CD with the recovery program which worked OK. Total BS that I had to do this but it solved my problem.
Then, after upgrading to the 2015 version, I had all sorts of problems setting the defaults for the program which never seemed to stay in default. It changed to incremental backups and I had to go through additional steps to try and get my original backup separated from all of the incremental ones. Then, I am notified that I was out of disk space on a 2nd HDD that contained all my backups. The program was UPDATING ALL OF MY PREVIOUS BACKUPS EVEN THOSE MADE ON THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE PROGRAM!!! Now, this had caused me great inconvenience, and the program even lost my last backup completely. I do a back up once a week or so to cover any problems that may occur and I can always go back to a good version but they totally screwed that up.
I did send request for assistance a number of days ago to both customer service and technical support with screen shots and their report that was requested and I have failed to receive any communication about the issue. Maybe they are to busy with other complaints. This sw should never have been released with all the bugs in it.
I will actually be surprised if they allow this comment to remain on the forum or allow me to post new ones.
