Acronis True Image 8 will not run, gives error message

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image 2012. When I try to run it, I get this message:

Acronis Time Explorer

Failed to deploy task. Scheduling service is off.

I've never seen this before. What should I do?

Margaret, welcome to these user forums.

Sorry but there is too little information to know how to advise you at present.

What version of Windows OS are you running your ATIH 2012 application on?

See KB document: 23921: Acronis True Image Home 2012: Supported Operating Systems

Please provide more details of the background to this problem, has this been working correctly previously, has anything changed recently?

Have you checked the logs provided with the Acronis application (assuming you can launch it to look at these)?

1. I've never had this problem before, ever. The product has always worked perfectly until now. I've had it for five years.

2. I have Windows 7 Professional.

3. I can't launch the program. I just get that error screen I described, and I can't go any further.

4. I looked in the program files on the hard drive. I don't see anything that looks like a log. They all seem to be original program files.

Margaret, I can only make a couple of suggestions to try to help you with this issue.

  1. Click on the Start button, then search for services.msc at the prompt shown and open the Windows Services control panel.  Check that the Acronis Scheduler2 service is active (not disabled or stopped).
See KB document: 24019: Acronis True Image Home 2012: Processes and Services for a list of all services used by Acronis and their purpose.
  2. Perform a Repair install of your ATIH 2012 application.  To do this, either find the installation program or sign in to your Acronis account and download a fresh copy of the installer from Downloads area.
Install ATIH 2012 again over the top of what is already installed and allow the install process to repair any issues in the current installation.

If either of the two suggestions above do not resolve the issue, then I would recommend doing a Clean install of the Acronis application, but try the above first before I give further instructions of how to do this step.

Hi Steve,

Yes, the Acronis Scheduler2 service was disabled!! I don't know how that happened. Anyway, I chose "Automatic" and now it opens up. (Now I just have to figure out why the computer can't see my external hard drive, but that's a different issue entirely, of course.)

Thank you so much!!!

Margaret

Margaret, glad to hear that starting the scheduler service has got the application to launch OK again.
