Acronis True Image Echo will not install on Ubuntu 9.1

Thread needs solution

Im currently loged in as root:
After running the .i686 from the console and immediately after answering the components selection during the setup process I get the following message:

"Installing Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server failed on your system. Installation could not continue, please report file /var/log/trueimage-setup.log to support@acronis.com.
rpm: please use alien to install rpm packages on Debian, if you are really sure use --force-debian switch. See README.Debian for more details."

log-file is attached along with the sysinfo logs

kernel linux 2.6.31-16-generic
Ubuntu 9.10(karmic)
Agent_Linux_ATIES.Echo_9.7.8353_EN

Hi,

that's the rpm build that comes with Ubuntu 9.10 it needs an extra parameter in order to install RPMs on a Debian system now --force-debian

that's why you get an error during the installation.

after the installation (if you do it manually) you get a permission denied on .gvfs that part is beyond me..
