Acronis True Image has stopped working

Thread needs solution

I previously had True Image installed on my system which is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Edition with no problems. After uninstalling it and reinstalling I keep getting "Acronis True Image has stopped working" whenever I try to create a task which runs the Backup Wizard.

I've found a couple of threads wher people have the same problem but not yet found a solution. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Also I've tried to repair by running the setup again with my AV etc disabled but it doesn't fix it.

Has anyone got any other suggestions please? I'm running Acronis True Image 2010 Build 7046.

Many thanks!

Jack,
I have had similar similar problems with "un-install's" (Ti and other removal programs other than "total Un-install" leave "bit's" everywhere) of TI .This is what i have done .. you must manually do the "deed" and remove every last vestige of TI your self . What i have done is as follows
1. Download the free program "Everything" and install it.
2. Set the options to scan only the drive that TI is on.
3. Type in Acronis , and let it show where it's "hiding"
4. Delete any file or folder that you find, ... you can then have a look through your "Registry" for any leftover
5. When your finished ...re-load TI and every thing should be A-OK
Regards Fred

Hi Fred,

I did what you suggested and spent time deleting all the reminant Acronis files and folders & editing the registry but its still crashing after installing it again.

Does anyone have any other suggestions please?

Jack,
Hello.... Could it be a problem with "Run as Administrator" ? I have Windows 7 \ 64 Home premium and had to reinstall once or twice , and had no further problems. Also i do not try create "Tasks" , I just run my backups as needed "manually" will TI run without creating a task? Regards Fred

I set all the .exe files to "Run as Administrator" and it makes no difference - it still crashes.

Jack...
Hello. ... The puzzling thing is that it worked before , "no problems" I still think there is something leftover that's preventing the re-install. Don't know if it's related or not but sometimes when i try to install a program it will fail because of a "leftover" from previous install (update etc.) or at times it's because of an "ownership " problem The most frequent of them is the "Temp Folder" C:> Users>your PC Name>AppData>Local> Temp. Have to delete all in that folder and "Take Ownership" , That sometimes works . One other suggestion is ...have you tried to do a Acronis Repair vs re-install ? Regards Fred

Hi Fred,

I just uninstalled Acronis True Image with Your Uninstaller! again. I then installed the trial of Acronis True Image 2011 and it works perfectly.
This is fine because I was going to upgrade to 2011 eventually anyway. I just have to buy a new license upgrade.

Jack,
Just input your serial into the tiral and you should be good to go.

I seem to have the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 7010 with Intel Core i5 and with Windows 7 Home Premium.
I use the Dutch version of ATIH10. There are no fixes or new builds available.
Downloading the Free Trial 2011 now.

Downloaded free 30 days Trial 2011 US version. My Dutch serial number does not work here.
Installed it anyway, without first uninstalling 2010.
This version seems to work now. Have to get used to the new user interface with the new way of generating backups.
I am not sure yet, but it seems that incremental backup files are just as big as the first file.

I do not want to buy a new version for the full price though since I bought version 2010 on 20100619. (some 2 months ago)
The English version is good for me as well as the Dutch version.
So I hope to get a decent offer from Acronis for the 2011 version soon.
