Acronis True Image Home 10.0 crashes at end of backup with Sony Digital Voice Editor 3.2.0.1 installed

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image Home 10.0 installed on WinXP Pro SP2. Worked fine until I installed Sony Digital Voice Editor 3.2.0.1 which comes with (and is required for) the Sony ICD-PX720 Digital Voice Recorder. After installing the Sony software, I ran my usual backup with Acronis and just at the very end of the backup, my machine blue-screened.
Scratching my head, I re-ran the backup and got the same result. I decided to un-install the Sony Digital Voice Editor 3.2.0.1 software and then re-tried the backup. The backup worked fine.
So, how do I resolve whatever conflict has arisen between these two applications?

Check if the Sony software installed something that runs at Startup. If it did uncheck it so it doesn't run (and probably isn't necessary at all to run at startup). If that doesn't help, and if you run only manual backups, try the backup using the bootable True Image Rescue CD. You need to know that this CD works anyway so better now that when it is too late.
