Acronis True Image Home 11 - Sector-by-sector backup images ENQUIRY

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I use True Image Home 11 for my backups.

If i "Create an image using the sector-by-sector approach", when backing up backup images, then do i have to Restore the same way, that is - "Sector-by-sector restoration of disks or partitions"? Or can i just "Restore disks or partitions" without sector-by-sector?

Up till now i have been using TI for sector by sector images, and restoring them the same way, but for time convenience i would just like to restore the partition without it taking so long. Please advice me

Hello Zoe,

Let me shed some light on your concern.

If you created a backup with sector-by-sector approach and you want to restore it, you have 2 options:

  1. Restore disks/partitions - in this case you will restore only the information backed up;
  2. Sector-by-sector restoration - in this case you will restore both used and free space. You can use this option to have exactly the same disk layout after restoration as it was when you were creating the archive.

So I may recommend you to restore just a disk/partition, It shouldn't anyhow affect your PC functionality after the restoration.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

Um ok, just clariifying, so just because i backup images using the sector by sector approach does not mean i have to restore it the same way!? Is that right? As i would like to continue backing up images sector by sector approach but do as you suggested and restore just a disk/partition. I also am wandering whether restoring incrementals images will have any afffect on the earlier increments, like in how they were restored? sorry i know im a little deep.
