Acronis True Image Home 2009 will not restore my XP

Thread needs solution

I have used Acronis for several years and it has proved invaluable. The version I currently have on my machine is the True Image Home 2009. My computer is an older XP sp3. I have an outboard HDD that I backup to. I have never had the need to recover my system until yesterday and unfortunatelt it would not work. I step through each step of the process, get to the part where I select the backup archived file, then move to the last step which if I can remember correctly is something along the lines of "indicate where to install" and I get a mostly blank screen and I get the dreaded beep from the computer and I can do nothing. The only choice at that point is to do a hard reboot.

No matter if I start up from DOS or my recovery disk it all ends the same.

I had developed so much confidence in Acronis that I never tested this version. This is quite dissapointing.

Hello Darryl,

Please accept our apologies for the difficulties you've experienced.

Let me assist you.

It seems that some drivers from in the standard bootable Acronis environment and Acronis Rescue Media are not compatible with some particular hardware you have, or your hardware was detected incorrectly. In this case I recommend you to download and use an alternate bootable media. This media includes a different hardware drivers set that should work for you.

Please follow the below instructions to download the bootable media:

  1. Log in to your account (if you do not have one, you will need to create it);
  2. Once logged in, click My Products & Downloads:

  3. Scroll down to the registered product and click Bootable Media:

  4. Click Download:

  5. Acronis Bootable Media will be downloaded as an ISO file. See Burning an ISO Image.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
