Acronis True Image Home 2010

Thread needs solution

I was recently given the software Acronis True Image Home 2010 as a gift. The problem is with the backup section. The program installed just fine, and it accepted the serial number. I am using it on my Vista system that I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. The problem I am having is the backup gets about three quarters thru and I get an error. I have used it within windows and also from the rescue disk with the same results. When I am backing up I do still have avg free still running, also I have Comodo firewall running. No matter how I try to backup it fails. Do you have a suggestion as to what I can do to get the program to work? Will the backup work ok in safe mode? I am at loss as how to proceed.

Safe Mode basically runs a version of ATI under a version of DOS, so you won't get usb support and other such stuff. The regualr bootcd uses linux, and, of course, when run under win, the OS is win -- so diff OS and diff drivers in each case.

Can you post the error number? That might help some of the more technical folks to figure out what kind of problem you are having.

Also, did you install ATI before or after upgrading to win 7? If before, then I'd tried to uninstall it completely and reinstal -- it's worth a try if you don't feel like waiting for a better answer.

Also worth trying is disabling other progs while trying the backup, jsut to see if there is a prog conflict. Or at least mark ATI as "allowed" or excluded under your security software. I'd mark allowed all of hte exe files in the Acroinis program directories, including those inthe Common program files directory. I don't have a list of them in front of me but they're easy enough to find with explorer. Juast disabling the security software, temporarily mght be afaster way to see if there is a conflict.
