Acronis True Image Home 2012 unintall

Thread needs solution

I need to free up space on my C drive, so I am uninstalling some programs and reinstalling them to my D drive.

What happens when I uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2012?  What will be lost?

Redruth, it has been a long time since I used ATIH 2012 but most current versions of the product will not allow you to install to any other location than the main OS C: drive.

If you are meaning what will you lose if you fully uninstall ATIH 2012 then the answer is 'it depends'.

It depends on whether you use the program to protect your computer Software, Applications and Data by making regular backups of your disk drives, partitions and data?  If you don't use it then you have no effective protection from data loss unless you have an alternative product installed or use the backup functions provided by your Windows OS.

If you do use ATIH 2012 and do regular backups, then you would need to create and keep hold of the Acronis bootable Rescue Media should you ever need to recovery your computer from one of your backups.

Please see KB 23921: Acronis True Image Home 2012: Supported Operating Systems for where your product is supported to be used, which is Windows versions up to Windows 7.  If you have a later version of Windows, then it is unlikely that you will be able to reinstall the software again if you remove it.

Thank you so much for your thorough answer. Just the fact that I can't install it on the D dive is very helpful.
