Acronis True Image Home 2014 - Windows 7/SSD Bootstick

Thread needs solution

hello everbody,

im using acronis 2014 for our POS Terminals. with xp it was no problem. im using a bootable usb hdd, with all images on it i need. i connect to the usb port, starting the machine, select the usb hdd and acronis boot loader will start. then i select the image, and all works.

but know we got our first pos terminals with windows 7 on it, and acronis will hang with boot loader starting...

i left it for three hours and it doesn't change to the acronis application. only boot loader starting...

then i made a new bootable usb stick with acronis, but it doesn't work. same thing: boot loader starting...

its windows 7 32bit
uefi bios

what can i do, to make it run again?

sorry for my bad english

best regards,

michi

Your new POS terminals appear to be using the new UEFI bios which is much different than traditional BIOS used in previous Windows installs. Microsoft has made it mandatory that all Win 8 machines use UEFI. With UEFI comes a new feature known as Secure Boot. Secure Boot is probably where your problem is as with Secure Boot enabled on a system, boot from another OS or hacker attempt is mot possible. This is designed to enhance the safety of the installation on a given machine.

I am including a link which talks about all this that might help shed some light on the differences between UEFI and BIOS. We are now seeing machines such as your POS terminals that use UEFI and have Win 7 installations. So manufacturers are clearly using UEFI as a way of enhancing security of the installed OS on these devices.

I would think that disabling the Secure Boot feature within your POS terminals bios settings would allow you to boot from your bootable USB hdd. Just remember to reenable that Secure Boot feature after you have used your ATI disk to perform the tasks you have in mind.
