Acronis True Image Home Try and Decide

Thread needs solution

Try and Decide no longer will allow me to continue "in the mode" after unexpected reboot/restart.

Any Ideas?

Chris, sorry but too little information to make a start here?

What version of ATI do you have, what build for that version (normally shown on the Account or Help / About page of the GUI)?

What OS is involved here, i.e. which version of Windows, XP, Vista, 7, 8.1 or 10?

What was the unexpected reboot / restart?  Was this a Windows BSOD or crash or hardware failure or power issue?

Thanks Steve,

ATI ver. 2012, update 2.1, build 7133

Windows 7 32

Twice due to power failure and once due to Realtek BSOD.

Chris, thanks for the further information.

There is an older KB document 23880: Acronis True Image Home 2012: Hard Reboot during Try&Decide Makes the System Unbootable which looks to be in this topic area tho it sounds like you haven't encountered the unbootable system here fortunately!

There is also KB 46475: Acronis True Image: Troubleshooting Try&Decide Issues but this is more about collecting information to report such issues to Acronis, which is not really an option here with ATI 2012 due to its age and lack of support.

Given the abnormal terminations of your computer, I can only suggest trying to turn off TnD (either keeping or discarding any changes) and then going back through the process of activating TnD again.

I have rebooted numerous times and restarted TnD.

When I choose to stay in the mode I am left staring at a blank screen

with blinking cursor never to complete a restart.

Chris, I can only suggest trying a Repair install of your ATI 2012 application to see if this will help here.  This is done by simply reinstalling the same software over the top of your existing program without first uninstalling.

If that doesn't help, then trying doing a System File Check (SFC /SCANNOW) so that you are sure there is no integrity issues with your OS and programs etc.  You should also do a CHKDSK /F against the drive(s) in your computer given the abnormal terminations.
