Acronis True Image Home, Version 11 - failed to read data from the disk
Hi
I have a Windows XP computer with Acronis True Image Home, Version 11, Build 8070
During a backup I've got the following error messages:
E000101F4: failed to read data from the disk
Failed to read from the sector *** of the hard disk 2
E00070003: failed to read data from the disk
A possible reason might be bad sectors on the disk.
After that, I had to abort the backup.
I have run check disk (right click on drive, tools, errors check) and no errors found.
Any ideas to fix this.
Thank you

You might want to do the error checking from the command prompt and be sure and check ALL partition on both the system disk and the backup storage disk.
CHKDSK X: /R (where X is the drive letter of the partition being checked.)

GroverH
thank you for your message,
This computer is running 24/7 (data acquisition). Upon running chkdsk from the XP cmd screen its asking to dismount the volume ( d: ). Is it wise to say Y or N... ?
I don't want not being able to remount of things will go wrong.
Is it safe to accept to dismount the drive?

The dismount request is normal. A yes response should be ok but depending upon what and where the errors might be, there is no way I can assure the checking for errors is safe. It should be safe but having a current backup would help.

My backup will complete successfully if I select 'Ignore All'. Is this OK? I wonder if I'll be able to restore the system with such backup (select Igore).
Should I install the snapapi module?

Any answer on above questions?

Leonard,
Any reply is subjective.
Your disk has errors. The data attached to those errors will probably be lost. The data attached to those errors will not be included within your backup.
Yes, I would go ahead and complete and save the backup which you mark as "exclude those errors". But save the backup knowing that the backup is less than complete and does not include that data.
Upon completion of saving the backup which does not include those errors, I wuld follow up and attempt to fix those errors so they are no longer a part of your disk. I suggested that in my post #2 above

Once you have fixed those errors, then I would follow up with a new full backup and keep both backups.
Others may offer some different suggestions.
