Acronis True Image Home version 11.0 (build 8,101) extended boot time
I have the software detailed above, having upgraded from version 9 and 10. The software has been usefully installed on my XP desktop machine for many years, but a few months ago I bought an old XP laptop (512 Mb RAM) for my wife to learn on and use the internet in her own room. I installed the version detailed but found the boot time extended to four and a half minutes, so I uninstalled it and the boot time immediately dropped to one and a half minutes. I have recently had a problem with some other software leading to a complete reformat and reload of XP. I have now got the laptop as I want it so installed Acronis once more, but boot time again extended, this time by one minute to two and a half, seeming to stall during boot up for about a minute.
There seems to be something within the program which is causing the problem; I only want to use it to take a base image so are there any components I can remove to reduce boot time – the alternative I think practical would be to make a boot disk plus an “as now” image and then remove the program – I presume this would work in the event of a failure to boot or a complete failure of the hard drive, necessitating its replacement.
