Acronis True Image Monitor thrashing disk?

Thread needs solution

OS: Windows 8.1
Acronis True Image 2014 build 6673
Sync agent version 17,0,0,1877

Before describing the issue, let me first state that I have disabled the following services, since I only backup to a network share:
* Acronis Nonstop backup service
* Acronis Sync Agent Service

I also have acronis drive monitor installed (old and unsupported, but love this for its simplicity).

The issue here is that after installing ATI 2014, I can hear the disk thrashing, especially at start. Even in almost idle system state, I can see the program working the disk. Why does this happen? Can I somehow reduce this activity, without hindering my ability to run a backup-to-network job?

I don't see why it would thrash the disk... You can disable the True Image Monitor from the startup items. You will only lose the system icon tray and the related task notifications.

You will probably loose the ability to cancel a TI backup or validation operation the is in process.

In fact, you will use the ability to do these operations through the icon tray, and launch the main UI from there. You can still launch the main program UI from your start menu or other shortcuts to accomplish this.
