Acronis True Image WD Edition - Clone Problem

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I just bought an Western Digital Hard Drive (1Tb) and I'm trying to clone my current HD (Maxtor 250Gb) to this new WD Tb unit.

I'd downloaded the Acronis True Image WD Edition, and started the Cloning processes, but after a few seconds from the start it pops an error message:

Created: domingo, 26 de junho de 2011 20:42:59

Details: Failed to prepare operations. Error code: 9 'A file system error has been found.' with extended code: 458.776 'MFT bitmap is corrupted.'

More information can be found at: http://kb.acronis.com/errorcode/
Event code: 0x000A0001

Well, I've managed to find other topics about, so, based on the tips in these other topics, I did the following things:
--> run the chkdsk /r --> returned OK with no errors
--> install the SnapAPI
--> Generate a report (with the Acronis Report tool)
--> Generate a System Report (in options within the Acronis True Image WD Edition)
--> Get in touch :)

So, I attached the 2 reports willing that the support can help me with that issue!

Thanks!

Eduardo,

Which drive did you use chkdsk on the old or the new? I'd do both.

Are you starting the cloning from within Windows or from a CD? It is better to try from the CD than from Windows, this is the most likely way of solving your problem.

You might find a reverse clone is the better way to go if running the clone from CD doesn't work. This is where you put the new drive into your PC and the old drive into an external case and then clone.

What version of SNAPMAN did you install?

Western Digital have 'played' around a little bit with their edition of True Image which is based on TIH 2009, check in the manual and see if there is any mention of disk size restrictions.

Hi Colin! Thanks for the fast reply.

At first, I used the chkdsk on the new drive, but after your post, I passed in my actual drive and it worked fine!

I'm already using the new WD Black Caviar 1Tb drive (clone of a Maxtor 250Gb drive).

To added to your knowledge base: I installed the SnapAPI 3.11.586 and I'm using the Acronis True Image WD Edition version 13.014010 installed in a Windows 7 64bits version.

Thanks again for your help! I very much appreciated!
