Acronis TrueImage 2015 backing up empty space on SSD drive?

Thread needs solution

I have just bought a new laptop with a 1Gb SSD drive and installed Acronis TrueImage 2015, for which I have a licence. A backup of my SSD drive results in a 1Gb TIB despite the fact my drive is only 30% full. If this is a known issue with the older version of Acronis, I am prepared to pay for an upgrade, but would like to be reassured it's fixed before I do so.

I do NOT have sector-by-sector backup selected.

Another issue I have noticed is that my DropBox and OneDrive folders appear to be included despite my having excluded them, but I don't believe these account for the extra space.

Thanks

Pete

Pete, welcome to these public User Forums.

From the brief description given, it does very much sound as if ATI 2015 is using 'sector-by-sector' method of backup if the backup image size is the same as the source disk size, and all exclusions are being ignored!  (I assume you mean 1TB rather than having a 1GB SSD)..!

Check the log files for your backup operation and these should show if this is happening.

You can use the older MVP Log Viewer tool to find the logs (link in my signature).

Thanks Steve. Yes, 1 Tb, not 1Gb! Showing my age... (1 Gb still sounds like a lot to me!).

I will check this out.
