Acronis will not clone hdd

Thread needs solution

i moved back to 2011 for cloning -- just too many issues in 2012 to get cloning to work.

i uninstalled 2012, then ran clean-up, then reinstalled 2011 and applied updates to get to the end-of-life 2011.

cleanup utility for 2011. you can search for it in the forum --- lot's of folks have used it in the past. remember to reboot after cleanup.

Here is the clean up utility link:

Thank you hhansard and Pat L for your help with my problem. I uninstalled 2012; ran cleanup. I uninstalled 2011; ran cleanup. I reinstalled 2010 w/updates. I FINALLY got acronis to clone but I had to go back to 2010. I continue to run into the same error message however. "GetDriveLayOut: CreateFile fail! Access is denied."
I have no clue what that means BUT I did get my new drive cloned......WooHoo.

Appreciate the pointers.
HOWEVER,
This does not solve the problem.
Yes, 2011 worked fine on my dell laptop, Win7 Pro/64
2012 does NOT work.
Running 2012/True ImageHome/Utilities/Clone - from within windows
Manual
Disk 1 (drive C:)
to
Disk 2 (USB Hitachi drive)
AS IS
Reboots
Starting Acronis Loader
Loading
Some kind of error message, goes away before I can read it
Pop up window:
Operation Status
Clone Disk
Check boxes for shutdown/reboot
Reads drive C: for a couple of minutes
Reboots, no message after reboot

So I created an Acronis CD
Booted off CD
same real fast message
Then when I went to utilities/Clone it said "YOU ONLY HAVE ONE DRIVE"

As I mentioned above, no issues on the same laptop, same USB drive, from either windows or off CD when using 2011.

Any response from Acronis?

Going back to 2011 is NOT a solution. Specially after I paid for 6 COPIES of Acronis.
I should have known better than that.

Same problem for me. Does anybody know if you can get a refund on the upgrade. I just got it last week and lost too much time trying to clone a HD to an SSD. In the end Acronis never worked. After such a good reputation in the past (compared to Norton Ghost), Acronis has gone the way of all flesh.
