Acronis WinPE ISO Builder Does Not Work - "To be able to build WinPE 2.0 or WinPE 3.0 images, install Acronis WinPE ISO Builder

Thread needs solution

There's a thread for this on the 'older versions' forum, but it is still not fixed in TI 2014 so I'm starting a new thread here - from what I have read this issue has been going on for literally years with no effort from Acronis to fix it.

I bought True Image 2014 thinking this must be sorted by now. It is not. I'm still getting "To be able to build WinPE 2.0 or WinPE 3.0 images, install Acronis WinPE ISO Builder on a computer where Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) is installed." I get the error at the point where I am selecting a WIM file to inject with ATI

I thought it's maybe something to do with Win7/64, so I got a new PC, installed a fresh copy of Windows 8 32 bit, fresh install of WAIK and then Acronis 2014. Still the same error.

Support are useless and despite connecting to my PC and seeing it for themselves are still suggesting I try things completely unrelated to the error - like "trying booting off an Aconis boot CD" - wtf does that prove or achieve? I bought the product as I need to specifically boot WinPE 4.0 to image an HP ElitePad that will only boot of a USB stick with WinPE 4.0 - I told them this but they either ignore what I say or simply do no understand - either way it is not good enough.

I've been talking with 'support' since 8th September 2013 and still got nowhere, any amount of trying things is not going to rectify what has got to be a fundamental flaw in the software.

Which WAIK did you install? To build WinPE 4.0 you need ADK 8.0 - http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/9/F/99F5E440-5EB5-4952-9935-B9… - do you mean it when you say 'WAIK' ?
Anyway, w7 x64 + 2014+ADK 8.0 seems to work , in order to see why it doesn't work for you,
I'd collect process monitor log ( http://kb.acronis.com/content/2295 )
set filter:
process name - contains - winpe_iso
drop filtered events
run media builder until the error appears, save process monitor log as .pml file, zip it and send.

And also the export of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
registry branch. (and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\wow6432node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall if on 64-bit windows)

Removed

I've been interested to acquire the WAIK but balked owing to its 1.7GB download size. This ADK seems to have WinPE in it but is "only" 1.4GB. Further, when I pursue a link from ADK to WinPE here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825110.aspx

it does not show Windows 7!?

Can I download this ADK and use it to make an Acronis boot CD for my Windows 7 x64 PC?

I have the correct ADK and never mind Win7 - as I said, fresh Win8 and fresh ADK - it should work should it not?

I downloaded ADK again from link in a doc from Acronis support. Support remoted onto my PC and went through the process from scratch and got the same error, then started going through idiots support script wanting to try all kinds of irrelevent nonsense (like all my 'first language isn't English' support does)

I got a refund and support are now ready to close the case even though still not fixed - taking the easy way out. Absolutely shocking, Acronis support are a joke.

LOOK AT THIS - started early this year - look, people have the same problem with late build 2013 (probably same as 2014), earlier 2013 build is okay. This is clearly the same issue:
http://forum.acronis.com/forum/41255

I am afraid that it is not very helpful to say "It works on my machine".

I am having the same problem and the Acronis support technicians on the chat facility seem confounded by the problem. I had WAIK installed and got the same error as the original poster. Having read this thread I uninstalled WAIK and installed ADK on my Win7 Ultimate 64bit machine created a new wim with the additional drivers installed and tried again - same result/error. I have also tried with the vanilla wim added by the kit, but still the same error. I need to create a bootable disk myself because I have RAID and my Acronis images are stored on a NAS so I need both the network driver and RAID drivers installed and this bit of the process works fine it is getting Acronis on the image that is proving impossible.

I have used process monitor to produce a log as requested previously and that is attached.

Are there any manual steps that can be taken to install True Image on the WinPE?

Blofeld, try to select the 'media' folder in the unpacked winpe files tree, where 'sources' subfolder (with boot.wim file) is located, e.g. C:\pe86\media\ .
