Acronis XP Processes

Thread needs solution

I've just changed part of my setup and now find I don't need to schedule my backups on shutdown.
Unfortunately a couple the Acronius processes don't like the way my system runs now and occasionally hang normal shut down. It's not serious but I have to terminate them manually.

Running are TimounterMonitor.exe, TrueImageMonitor.exe and (I believe it's TI connected) schedhlp.exe.

Which ones can I disable but still use TI normally (eg mount TI image as disk). I suppose I'm asking, what specifically are their functions?

What version and build of TI are you using?

As far as I know, schedul2.exe (ArcSch2Svc) is needed to be able to perform any imaging using TI in Windows (scheduled or not).

Which one(s) are hanging?

These are from some older Acronis Support posts (some if it may be inaccurate for the later versions of TI):

---

schedhlp.exe -- Acronis scheduling service helper
This program monitors the logons and logoffs in the running system and notifies Acronis scheduling service about them. It is started when a user logs into the system and terminates when the user logs off. Acronis True Image uses this program to schedule tasks on user logon/logoff and to run non-scheduled "Image creation" operation.

---

TrueImageMonitor.exe provides the interface between running Acronis True Image tasks and the user. It allows to observe the tasks progress and cancel the running tasks. It is started when a user logs into the system and terminates when the user logs off.

I would like to explain what timountermonitor.exe process is intended for. The point is that this process monitors the amount of free space available for the mounted image modification. In other words, it is responsible for not allowing user to add to the mounted image archive an amount of information (files and folders) larger than the free space available on the hard drive (logical drive) this particular image resides on. When timountermonitor.exe is disabled\turned off an error might occur in case of adding the amount of information larger than the free space left of the hard drive. If you are sure that you will stay within the limits of the hard drive's capacity then please feel free to disable this process.

These programs are not required by Acronis True Image to perform its tasks, and can be terminated if you think it occupies too much memory, but you will loose the ability to control running Acronis True Image tasks.

Thanks for that reply.
It's not that I need to save the memory, so in the end I'm just as well leaving everything as is and closing down manually anything that objects.
