Thread needs solution

Which backup file you choose to restore when you have several full backups?, like Bacup (1), Backup (2), etc

Last time I choose the latest. I think it was (3) as I never exceed this number of backups. It restore a very old version. Lost lost of files.

Thank for your support.

Full images, but I downloaded the PDF file with explanations on how the software works, and I decided to have two types of downloads: 1 Is just the system, to be used ONLY if I have a disk crash; 2- An incremental buckup.

I implemented this approach today. Do you think is a better way?
If I need to restore DATA along I couls then choose the latest incremental backup. Is that assumption correct?

The two backups are in an independent hard disk.
I also created a SAFE ZONE(?) which incorporated a Disk F, which updates when I update the incremental file.

Please comment on these subjects.

THANKS A LOT

The comments don't make any sense I never had a comment regarding how to make a backup.
All my comments have been about creating a Recovery Disk

Hello Hector and Bin,

Thank you for your comments. Bin, thanks for your assistance.

Hector, please accept my profound apologies for the delay with the response. Unfortunately Forum is not a support channel (see TOU), and cannot provide us with the opportunity to provide all the Customers with the reply on time (though we're working on it), so in case of an emergency we advise to contact support directly.

The third full backup should've been the latest, but as far as full backups aren't updated constantly, you could've really loose the data that was changed since the backup creation. From this point of view your new scheme is much better: the incremental backups archives the changes made to the drive since the last backup, so your backups will be more up to date. You might want to check the information regarding differences between Full, Incremental and Differential backups - it may help you to build you own Backup Scheme that will suit your needs.

In case you need to restore the data, you're absolutely right, all you need to do is to select the latest incremental in the chain, and the latest backed up information will get restored.

I assume that Safe zone is the Acronis Secure Zone - that's a good choice, it's a separate partition that contains the backups, which increases the safety of data.

I would also advise you to use the Consolidation - it allows to reduce the used space on the drive.

I'd also wanted to add: Bin has an MVP Badge, which means he's our MVP, and in case the moderator is not available or not answering, Bin or other guys with an MVP badge can help you with your questions, and they will do it as good (or even better) as the moderator would do.

Let me know if I haven't answered all your questions, I'll be glad to assist.

Thank you!

Hello YANA,
1- I NEVER asked for support on backups, so, ounce again, close the subject.

2- The only support I looked on the past was regarding the creation of a Recovery Disk. I had a very BAD experience following a suggesting given to me in this forum (not from you) that cost me $ 60.00 in repairs.

3- I solved the problem myself, and I am NOT interested in receiving more advice. between the two of us, the main problem I spotted is that you people know too much and never think about looking if the plug is inserted, in other words you look for complicated situations.

Thank but drop me off of any comments I could have made in the past.

Hi Hector,

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it.

I'm sorry for the advise provided cost you $ 60.00. I agree with you regarding looking for complicated situations: it's a sort of a habit for support professional, as every day we face different issues that are caused by different conflicts between programs, etc., which are far from being simple. So each time you face an issue, you start analyzing what could be broken, and exclude most unlikely variants like unplugged drives.

Your comment is really valuable, I've shared it with the Management and Support team, thank you for the feedback.

I'm glad to know that you've got the issue solved. Let me know if there's anything we can help you with, we'll be glad to.

Thank you!

Dear Yana,
I decided to answer your comment because you have are, indeed, an opened minded person.

What was my last problem?: Not been able to create a Recovery Disk.
The help provided was centered on making sure I had downloaded the TI Home 11 program right.
That's when a "clean all former downloads" was suggested, and my old Dell went belly up.

How I solved the problem? Reviewing in my mind why I was able to create the RDisk in an old computer that had TI 9.0.
I remembered I had a R-W disk and Nero software for support. Sure enough my "new" (used Dell) only haf a CD to play music.
When a new unit, with R-W capabilities, and Nero 9.0 Essentials was incorporated, the problem disappeared.

Now you can appreciate the abism that can separate the fellow asking for help and the helper. My best advice to you is:
first check the degree of knowhow of the person asking for help, including necessary hard and software needed. Don't assume anything.

Thank you for giving this novice the chance to contribute is nickel.
