Administration of tib files under Acronis 2015

Thread needs solution

Maybe a bit exaggerated, but there isn't a single day that I do not have any problems with Acronis 2013. There are various causes (renameing script, moving files, NAS server not on line, new USB disk, etc) but I usually end up with a backup script that does not match the tib files that belong(ed) to that backup script. And I have never found a way telling Acronis how to forget all the old information and just accept that these are the backup files you have to consider.

Is there anyone who recognizes this problem and can tell me if Acronis 2015 does not have this problem anymore?

I do remember that I ran a trial version (I believe it was 2015), not happy with it, removed it again and afterwards all my backup scripts appeared to be unusable...

Issues with backup scripts are best resolved with uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling. These issues typically occur when tasks/TIB files are edited/changed by the user.
With Acronis, it is best to create new tasks when wanting to make changes to a task.

In the operation tab of each task, there is the option "Remove from the list" which will remove the backup task from your listings of tasks. This will not delete any tib files.

As MVP PatL has indicated, your best chance of future succes with backup tasks is to starte over with a new task.
Set it with the correct configuration and then leave it alone with no edits. If edits needed, then again stop using and create a new task with the correct settings.

Here are 3 examples depending upon whether you want Full only; or Full + ? Inc; or Full +? Diff.
Use one of these examples and set it up for automatic cleanup as illustrated. Then the program will begin its own automatic deletion of the oldest tib files when the trigger point arrives. Trigger point is illutrated in the examples.

GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme.Keep 4 versions (chains). The 4 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs..

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. The 6-4 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs.
Note/example: If rule selected is "Delete older than 7 days" is selected, deletion will not begin until the first chain (7 files) is completed and entire chain is older than 7 days.

GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. 2 Diff, Keep 2 chains. The 2-2 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs.

I would also suggest that you review my signature link #1 below and look at the contents of AGH-1 for more hints on how best to succedd with the task management.

I cannot delete a file from the user interface of TI 2015. When attempting to delete a tib, the "deleting backup" arrow just spins. My backups were originally done on an external drive, but I have been backing up to a D: drive the last month or two. I noticed that Acronis has trouble locating D: and I have to browse and select the destination. But with backups being deleted, it just spins. Can it not locate?
