ADVICE ON BACK UP SCHEDULE & OPTIONS NEEDED

Thread needs solution

I have 40gb of data to back up. I am using True Image home 2011 with online back up.

I am confused by the array of options & my understanding goes as far all full & incremental back ups & online back up that I am running every evening.

Can anyone suggest a sensible back up schedule to get the best protection utilising all the various back up forms in TIH2011

I would suggest one of two options.

1. Accept the default chain option that TI 2011 offers as this will create 1 full, a number of incrementals/differentials and consolidation.

Schedule this for once or twice a week.

2. Make your own schedule of 1 full plus 6 incrementals, consolidate once a week, keep images for at least a month.

As for OLB, I'd personally only bother imaging your documents and any data files such as banking software files etc.

How big is your external or second drive that you image to?

How often do you use your computer?

How often are the files on your PC updated such as email, OS updates etc?

Make sure you burn a rescue CD and that you check it can boot your PC and your keyboard/mouse work and network if imaging to a NAS. Also check that when booted from the Cd Linux can also see your hard drives.
