After Cloning HD Windows 7 Update Will Not Run

After cloning HD with TI 2015, booted new HD into Windows 7. Windows booted up to my desktop properly. When I opened the Windows Update window I receive the following message. "Red X" w/ msg "Always install the latest updates to enhance your computer security and performance." I click on "check for updates" button and get this message: "Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer." Using the Task Manager I check and confirm the Windows Update Service is running. It is a legitimate Windows 7 installation and shows as such (Genuine) on my system. Also, the Update History is blank I've been working at this for a number of weeks without success. I've tried several fixes that have cropped up over the internet also without success. Suggestions/ remedies gladly accepted and appreciated.
