AmdPPM.sys missing in Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm using the Plus Pack with Acronis True Image Home 2010 Standard.
I'm trying to restore an image from an Intel machine onto an AMD machine, but Universal Restore prompts me with an error message:

AmdPPM.sys not found

The file is located on the USB drive along with the image. The directory hierarchie is like so:

F:\image.tib
F:\drv\
F:\drv\amd\
F:\drv\hd\

F:\drv\amd\ contains these files:
amdk8.cat amdk8.inf amdk8.sys AmdPPM64.sys AmdPPM.cat AmdPPM.inf AmdPPM.sys

I add F:\drv to the search path of the drivers.

Once WinXP is starting up, it recognizes and AMD processor and prompts me two times for its location, although it has found it already in the same directory.

I'm irritated, why the error of Universal Restore happens and if there is something wrong with setup now.

Regards,

Hello ska!

Welcome to Acronis Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I completely understand your concern and will be glad to assist you.

In this case I would suggest you to place all the drivers to one location (one folder) since it is possible that Acronis Universal Restore is getting confused by the number of folders.

Also please make sure you have only the needed drivers of mass storage devices (like chipset, mbotad, raid controller). It is highly preferable to avoid adding plug-and-play device drivers like NIC or audiocard, etc.

Please unpack the package, so that the drivers were in .inf and .oem format.

I would also advise you to take a look at the Acronis Universal Restore Guide with step by step screenshots - you may find it useful.

Should everything be set correctly and the issue persist - please, let us know, we will continue with investigation.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you in advance for cooperation.
