another acronis loader boot failure entry

Thread needs solution

unfortunately i am not an advanced user and it
seems as if i need to be from reading the other
posts. i am running windows xp pro. i have an abit awd9 max motherboard. i am using acronis true image 2011 with the latest build number 6597. i have tried the rescue media from the product as well as the one from the acronis web site burned to a cd and of course like most people here it does not work. i also downloaded the bartpe and safe media file, i don't know how to use it. it appears from what i have been reading in some of these posts that i need some windows drivers that i
don't have and need to create a cd with this barpe file. i have two 500gb ide hard drives
installed as well. i have already been able to
save my hard drive on my disc as well as on a
wd 500 gb external drive. the error message
is acronis loader boot failed, press any key to
continue. after pressing a couple of keys the
computer boots into windows normally. can someone help me out with this?

Try downloading the boot media iso files from this web site. I find the only way to get an ADD11 or a ATIH2011 is to use their iso files and create a cd. I believe Acronis has some serious bugs in the boot media creator or their documentation which doesn't really describe adequately how to create the boot media. I liked the feature on previous releases in that it would create one boot cd with both TI and DD + on it, yet now with the ISOs one needs to create a cd for each.

I have been struggling on and off for at least 6 months trying to get this feature to run on the 2011 versions of TI and DD but never have time to devote a whole day or two to experiment and try to solve the problem.

In a different thread I saw the moderator response that the user is probably using a cd that doesn't properly match their cd writing drive. In my opinion this is total bunk and a cop out to stall us users. I have tried both TI2011 and DD2011 singly and together as well as mixed old and new versions. Every time on 2011 it fails with Acronis loader unable to ... type errors. On mixed versions the cd will boot the the selection menu and the old version of TI or DD will run, but the new version won't. And I have tested this on at least 4 different platforms.

Today I tried to run a more controlled test where on a relatively clean PC with XP Pro sp2. I removed Acronis sw and then installed only ADD10. I created a boot media cd with just ADD10 and the OS selector on it. It worked flawlessly. Then I upgraded to today's latest ADD11 download and created a boot media. I used the defaults (linux based - Windows-like representation) presented in the gui. Of course booting with this media failed, wasting another cd. In previous tests I've tried the other Windows PE Options also without success.

My conclusion is the software or documentation is buggy. I have used Acronis TI and DD for several years and thru several releases and have gone from an enthusiastic supporter to a very disgruntled user who severely regrets having purchased the latest upgrades without investigating the other competitors out there. Add the fact that Acronis wants to charge you for support after 30 days -- for telling you how to use their faulty software or documentation.
If you search this forum you will see people complaining about boot media for the past 1 year plus. Surely doesn't sound like a company that is interested in keeping a quality product or their customers.

Joseph,

Your problem looks like a driver issue. The bootable media is running a linux version of ATI and Linux drivers are sometimes harder to come by with some hardware.

After you tried with the latest bootable media from your account, your best shot is to contact Acronis support and see if they can provide you with an ISO image or a workaround with WinPE.

MY SOLUTION:  Create and use  USB Boot Recovery media.

I tried video and data settings in the BIOS, using a WinPE boot solution... so many different things that didn't work.  Then on a whim, I created a USB Recovery Stick and it came right up.  The 64-bit program had a few issues at first, so I recovered to my 64-bit system using the 32-bit Acronis from the stick, and it worked PERFECTLY.

Hope this helps someone...
