Any Difference Between Disk Image and All Files Backup?

Thread needs solution

Acronis True Image Home 2011 is in use.
Please explain if there is any difference between creating a disk image (disk containing only a single partition) and selecting to backup of all files on the C drive.
Will the "all files" backup contain the same file and folder structure as an image?

Just wondering.

There are some files, or more broadly speaking, information stored on the disk, that are not available for access through OS-level file access, even with shadow copies (it is not a question of open files only).
A simple all file backup cannot be used for a bare-metal restore of an OS like Windows.

A disk and partition backup reads the disk information at the lowest level and leverages the partition file system information to determine what has changed, etc.
