Any employees from Acronis in here? Problems withTrue Image Home 2011...
Hi everybody, I got some problems with my new Acronis True Image 2011 like a lot of other people do. What happened to the products of Acronis? I own Acronis True Image 7, 9, Home 2010 and now the newest version Home 2011! But no other version made such problems like the 2011, really that version totally sucks. I got a PC with a Gigabyte board with an Intel P45 chipset and a RAID0 configuration. All versions are working well, except of the newest! The 2011 version...
- does not find my hardware RAID0 (using a boot cd in normal and safe mode)
- in the Windows installation I cannot use the report function for the support (it creates a report but it doesn't save anything after clicking on the save button)
- a freshly created boot cd, disables my RAID0-configuration on the mainboard (all RAID hdds are offline after using it)
- my mouse and keyboard aren't working with the boot cd (the mousepointer is stucked on the buttons and it is nearly impossible to use it)
I already contacted the support and they created a boot cd by using WinPE and it works pretty nice. It is really annoying, I have to contact the support to get a working boot cd OR I have to buy the Plus Pack for 20€! All older versions of True Image are working well with my current PC except of the 2011! And why you Acronis guys make such give aways like "...buy Acronis True Image now and you will get a free Plus Pack"? Why only for the US or UK customers? E.g. in Germany you pay 50€ for the retail version and in the US only 29$ (currently 21€)! Aren't we good customers in Germany or what? That's really not fair!
When will you release a new update that fixes all those problems? Ever thought to give customers with such problems a free Plus Pack?

Hi Colin, I created a normal / safe boot cd and also tried the medium from my account - none worked! Looks like only the WinPE works. I can start the report function and I also get that summary but when I click on the 'save' or 'save and send' button it just closes. I reinstalled it two times without any success, I also tried it on 3 of my other computers (1x Windows 7 64Bit, 1x Windows 7 32Bit, 1x Windows Vista Ultimate 32Bit) and that report function doesn't work on any of them!
I normally use True Image to make an image from my freshly installed computers, but without a working boot medium it is impossible. And I know there can be problems with RAID configurations but why the older versions are working then?

Hello hit123 and Colin,
Thank you for posting and helping.
hit123, I will definitely help you with this issue.
From what I can see in the case that you opened with us recently, there were issues with the bootable media and our Management team decided to provide you with a free Plus Pack upgrade so that you can create the WinPe media. It appears that it has resolved your issues.
Your opinion is very important to us, that is why you can always submit your feedback from this link or contact our Management team directly.
If you need additional help, please let me know.
Thank you.

I had been a happy User for many, many years. I have tried to upgrade from True Image Home Version 11 to True Image Home Version 2011. It dies with the message:
AppName: trueimage.exe AppVer: 14.0.0.6696 ModName: msvcr80.dll
ModVer: 8.0.50727.4053 Offset: 000046b4
I have been without a working system for 14 days. During this time I have sent a dozen specific emails to Acronis and received two generalised ones. I have upgraded to the new release (where 'new' means Build 6696).
The Level Two Support people appear completely unable to help, they respond to emails with an interval measured nearer to weeks than days. I am shocked at their lack of interest in me, a customer, who has paid for four Licences.
At this stage I am looking at the nightmare scenario of reformatting my disk, creating an extra bootable partition, restoring the current system that has the useless True Image Home Version 2011, restoring an old system that has a working True Image Home Version 11 and then manually copying files backwards and forwards until I have got rid of the evil Version 2011.
And I will have to do this on THREE different systems.
So... the moral of this story is... DON'T upgrade from an old Version 11 to a new Version 2011 that is both buggy and unsupported..
Last of all, if anybody is interested... my Acronis reference is

Peter,
For more info about your error, Use the search at the top and search of
msvcr80.dll
Another alternative,
Consider using a backup created using the old version 11 and restore back to that time.
Hopefully, you did a full backup before you began the install of 2011.
After you have a old operational system, then uninstall the old v11 and run a cleanup.
Then trying again to install 6696 to a clean system.

Thank you for your ideas.
The First Level Support replaced MSVCR80.DLL ... without ever explaining how Version 11 worked when Version 2011 failed. That didn't solve the problem.
I did exactly as per your second idea, including following the special KB artcile to guarantee Version 11 was completely cleaned out before installing Version 2011. That didn't solve the problem either.
Unfortunately I upgraded two systems (4,000 miles away) in January and the problems have occurred on this, the third system.
My nightmares are compounded by the fact Version 11 can't read Version 2011 backup files. So I can't simply down grade to the old, working, Version 11 in place of the new, non-working Version 2011.
Sadly my biggest worry is not the complex task ahead of me: it is the complete lack of urgency/support from Acronis Support people.

Hello all,
Thank you for posting and your kind help.
Peter, I will do my best to sort this out.
I have contacted the responsible party about this situation, I am certain we will get it addressed as soon as possible.
In the meantime, did any of the suggestions help?
Were you able to run the Windows system file checker? Please check this article for more information.
I will also follow-up with the Support representatives working on the case, including the Expert professional.
If you have additional questions, please let me know.
Thank you.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Anton.
Thank you for your interest in this problem.
Yes... I ran the system file checker... no errors.
No, sadly none of the suggestions solved the problem.
I am currently working my way through another list of ideas send from Support yesterday.
The current score on this system is:
I was able to run Version 11 without any problems.
I can run Version 2011 off the bootable CD
I can see/access/copy files off a Version 2011 backup by clicking on the backup file
I can't run Version 2011 by clicking on it.
A detailed log of everything I have done, together with copies of my dozen emails, can be found by following the trail using reference numbers I listed in an earlier message on this system.

Is this a record? I have been unable to run True Image Home 2011 for ... TWENTY DAYS...
I have tried communicating with TEN different people ...
customerservice@acronis.com
managers@acronis.com
Amit Guria
Pankaj Parmar
Sunny Arora
Sachin Bajaj
Rajeev Kumar
Todd Garcia
Amell Marty
and, of course, Anton Deev on this web page
But not one of these people has been able to fix the problem caused by attempting to upgrade from a perfectly working True Image Home 11 to a True Image Home 2011.
So... my message to all Acronis Users is... Don't upgrade. Not only will this save you money but it will also save you going through the nightmares I have been experiencing for twenty days...
After years of of running Acronis on multiple systems, I am now being forced to consider the only options now available to me:
(1) Downgrade back to True Image Home 11
(2) Jump ship to Norton Ghost
(3) Instruct my Lawyers to seek compensation for the days and days I have wasted because Acronis Support is useless.
I would welcome other people's suggestions...

Peter,
I take it you are using XP?
What build of 2011 are you trying to install?
Do you have any other Acronis product installed, other than TI11?
Which service pack level is XP at?
Have you tried extracting the TI2011 MSI installer? To do this run the acronis installer and when you reach the install menu (the very first one that offers to search for updates and download the user guide), right click on Install and select extract. The MSI installer works slightly differently to the Acronis package even though the Acronsi one calls the MSI version.
Have you tried uninstalling TI11, running the TI11 cleaning utility and then running the TIH installer?
The problem that you are suffering is quite possibly due to the fact that many programs install a version of the MSCVR80 file and sometimes some versions don't play nice with each other plus the fact an MS update can break parts of a system that was working.
As an example with W7 I can no longer update my ATI video drivers due to an update in the SP RC1.

Hi Colin
Yes I am using XP
I am trying to use the very latest release: 14.0.0.6696
No I don't have any other Acronis products installed
Service Pack 3
I have not tried extracting the MSI installer. I will do this tomorrow. Thank you for the idea.
Yes... I have un-installed, cleaned up and reinstalled several times
Everyone says the issue is MSCVR80 ... but can't explain why Version 11 worked fine while Version 2011 doesn't. MSCVR80 has been replaced several times.
But my main complaint is that nobody at Acronis "support" actually does anything, which is why my system still doesn't work TWENTY DAYS after I first logged a support call...

Final update: after FIFTY DAYS of being unable to click on True Image Home Version 2011, Support and I gave up and they assisted me with down grading to Version 11.
My final comments are: Support was useless for the first five weeks until Igor took up the case. He did, at least, attempt to keep me informed, to set agreed times for the next call etc. Everyone else, I had previously communicated with half a dozen other Support people, simply didn't have a clue as to how important time is. A special mention about Todd at Cleverbridge who achieved some progress by being able to communicate within Acronis via unpublished email addresses.
And the worst offender? Without a doubt "managers@acronis.com" to whom I sent loads of emails and from whom I received not one single reply.
In summary: True Image Version 11 is a very good, stable product. I continue to trust it with my electronic life. But don't upgrade to Version 2011 unless you have to and don't expect "support" to be any better than asking your Grandmother to slowly and randomly pluck at electronic straws...
