Any special prep for reinstallation?

Thread needs solution

I'm going to have to do a clean reinstallation of Windows 10 followed by a reinstall of TI 2015 (and lots of other products).  Do I have to do anything (like uninstalling TI) prior to wiping out the PC?  I have a 3-PC license for TI 2015 and am running it on 3 PCs so I need to make sure Acronis knowns this is not a 4th installation.

This may be a dumb question.  Hopoefully TI does some kind of hardware validation during activation and no hardware is going to change.

Patrick,

Nope, just install as you normally would any other application.  If you do get prompted during licensing that you have exceeded your license install limit, it will ask if you want to remove an existing license.  Say yes and log into your account.  Then disable it from an existing system (most likely the same computer name you already have again - if you use the same name for your fresh install).  All should be well.  If you do run into any licensing issues though, customer support will square things away.

Well, I tried a clean reinstall of Win10 followed by a reinstall of TI 2015 on a not very critical PC and it didn't go as well as you suggested.  When entering my serial "number" I got a messages saying "You have specified an upgrade serial number.  Please enter the serial number specified on your previous product."

The Acronis "Retrieve Serial Number" procedure returned a serial number for TI 2014 and a serial number for TI 2015.  I suppose I could enter the TI 2014 serial number, but that seems a bit odd.  Is that really what this activation process wants me to do?

I can get by without TI on this PC for an indefinite amount of time, but this is just a trial run.  On the PC that really needs the clean reinstall I need TI daily.

Patrick, if you are installing an Upgrade version of ATIH 2015 then you will always be prompted for two serial numbers, one for ATIH 2015 and one for any qualifying previous Acronis True Image product that you can upgrade to the new version.  This is normal and has been the case for very many years in my own experience of using upgrade versions.

All your ATIH serial numbers can be found (and downloaded) from your Acronis Account along with the installation and bootable media software.

All that was available from my Acronis account was a TI 2014 serial number and a TI 2015 serial number. I just tried entering the 2014 serial number and was told (truthfully) that it was not for a previous product.

I still have the TI 2014 installation file so I suppose I could install it, enter its serial number, upgrade to 2015, and enter its serial number, but but that seems like a lot of work. Is that really what I am supposed to do in the case of a reinstall?

Patrick, are you entering the serial numbers in the correct order, i.e. install ATIH 2015 then enter the 2015 upgrade serial nr, then when prompted for the serial of the product being upgraded from, enter the 2014 serial number?  That is how it has always worked for me.

There is no need to install ATIH 2014 before upgrading to 2015 - it is actually recommended to do a clean install rather upgrading between versions.

Ah. I was misinterpreting the screen. When it told me that I had entered the update serial number and needed to enter the previous product's serial number I did not see there was a new input field so I overlayed the previously entered serial number.
