Anyone else have problems with August Microsoft Updates (Stop 0xA) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I had a huge problem after the August Microsoft Updates to my Windows 7 Pro system.
I was getting the Stop 0xA (not the much more widely reported Stop 0x50 which did not affect me).
I started with about 12GB free disk space but after a series of crashes as I rolled back to restore points and tried to install the patches in smaller batches I ended up with no disk space and all the restore points getting deleted and a badly damaged system (e.g. Event Viewer was missing the MMC plugin).
[It wasn't to this point that I used Acronis to make a backup - a bit after the horse had bolted... though in the end I did revert to this backup]

In the end I came to suspect that the cause was incompatibility with Acronis TrueImage Home 2013. To be specific the fltsrv.sys driver. (When I tried the driver verifier that driver threw a couple of Stop xC9 messages, so I uninstalled Acronis and since then seem to have recovered the system - though I can't be sure there were no other factors - such as Microsoft revisions to patches, or just order of recovery steps).

The Windows update that was originally causing the problem was probably one of these:

Anyway - the issue which faces me now... is selectively restoring files:
I made an incremental sector backup with TrueImage before I restored the first backup... I would like to recover selected files from the recently created files in the incremental. While TrueImage was still installed I tried to select files by datemodified:... Explorer formats but it found nothing. I thought the best way would be to mount the incremental backup as an image and use Windows Explorer directly to locate the new files - but at that time the system was in such a state that I could not because TrueImage could not assign it a drive letter. Now TrueImage is uninstalled and I see the USB boot version does not offer to mount the backup as an image.

Should I dare try re-installing TrueImage 2013?

FWIW - I uninstalled True Image, spent a couple of days installing patches etc. The machine seemed to be in a good state. Multiple reboots, CHKDSKS, SFC /SCANNOWs showed no problems.
Finally when I needed to recover files from the Incremental Acronis backup I re-installed Acronis True Image 2013 (latest build - 6514).
No reboot was necessary. I mounted the backup from an external USB drive.
Grabbed the files I needed and did a lot of directory and file comparisons.
Went to sleep.

Four hours later I woke to find another BSOD - which appears to be clearly pointing at True Image:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF8800BD34070, 0xFFFFF8800A1B96C8, 0xFFFFF8800A1B8F20)

It seems that other people are not reporting the same problems so I can't make any firm conclusion. I am left wondering whether to just uninstall True Image 2013 or whether to upgrade.
