application settings feature wont back up Firefox or Thunderbird

Thread needs solution

I have been trying to use the "my application settings" feature in order to back data from installed programs and get a unspecified error stating (failed to copy file or folder ".) unless I uncheck both Firefox and Thunderbird. When I uncheck these two programs, it works fine. Yes I have made sure both programs are not running when I try to back up. I am using version 3_5_3 of Firefox and version 2_0_0_23 of Thunderbird. Anyone know of a workaround?

Hello michael duvall,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Could you please let me know the build number of the product, which you can find in the Help -> About dialog (it should be a 3 or 4 digit number)?

Could you please send us the log with the error?

- Start Acronis True Image Home;
- Select Tools -> Show log;
- Choose the log entry which contains errors;
- Click on the diskette icon, choose the location (folder) and save there;
- Attach the log to your answer in this thread;

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

I am having the same issue with Acronis True Image Home 2009 using the latest release (9809). The problem seems to be that Firefox 3.6 Beta 5 and Thunderbird 3.0 are not properly supported by Acronis. This needs to be fixed.

Hello all,

Please accept our profound apologies for the delay with the response. We understand that such big delays are completely inacceptable and will do our best to prevent such situations form happening in the future.

Let me help you with the issue.

Michael, please note that you're using not the latest build of the software so I recommend you to download the latest one #6053 from your account and install it. Additionally, according to your log file both Firefox and Thunderbird were running during the backup. Could you please make sure that there are no firefox.exe or thunderbird.exe processes running in Windows Task Manager (press CTRL+ALT+ESC to access it) and try to back up again?

David, most probably this particular beta version of Firefox is not supported as well as Thunderbird 3. You can find the list of applications supported by Acronis True Image Home 2009 at this KB article.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you.
