Arconis 2010 True Image Home- backup whole for system / Not through operating system

Thread needs solution

HI,
I want to do 2 things.

1. Make a backup of a partition (on the same disk/I only have one disk)
IMPORTANT I want to perform this through the operating system (win xp) (my os is fully working)>>

2. I want to be able to restore this, from boot in the case of my OS being corrupted.
> Not through the OS (for example the OS is dead)

The simple question is, how do I do this?

why can you have a simple scenario FAQ on your site with simple situations, and state if doing stuff through OS or through boot or whatever.

like do I need to make a boot cd for the restore, or is there some other special command I do at boot.

this site is full of complecated situations, why not try and keep simple? with a question and answser?

Look at the TI Manual and Grover's True Image Guides under Useful Links on the left of this screen.

TI will make an image on a partition being imaged but you might look at creating a Secure Zone which is a special second partition if you only have one partition. Personally, any HDs I have are setup with about a 50GB partition for the OS and the remainder is for other things - I never keep important data files in the OS/Apps partition.

You need to have a rescue CD if you can't start the restore from within Windows such as if your OS is bad. You should always have a boot disk and you should always have an archive stored on a different physical disk than your OS in case of disk failure.
