ATI 11: Can I Restore Image to Partitioned Drive?

Thread needs solution

I've got ATI 11. Is is possible to restore a partition image to a particular partition on a drive that was partitioned outside of Acronis? My "target" disk will already be partitioned. I would like to either restore the image to a partion that I previously created on the target drive or to unallocated space on that drive without deleting the other partitions.

If ATI 11 cannot do that can any of the newer versions of ATI do it? If ATI cannot, any ideas on a program that can? I was thinking perhaps Clonezilla?

Yes you can restore to a particular partition. Use the recovery CD for that (always do partitions and disks recoveries from the CD). Watch out though! From the recovery CD, the drive letters are not the same as in Windows. It doesn't matter, but don't be surprised and you'd better put labels on the partitions to make sure you select the right one.
When you restore, don't include the MBR+track0. Select only the partition you want to restore. Don't try to correct the drive letter: the information stored in the backup is correct. Just the UI that ATI displays to browse for disks and partitions (to find the backup file or to choose the destination) can have different drive letters. If the partition you restore was the active one, don't forget to mark it active.
Selecting a single partition allows you to resize the restored partition.
