ATI 11.8101 fails to load from CD

Thread needs solution

Using the newly downloaded ATI 11.8101 rescue disk my laptop boots to the ATI menu. When I select recovery it appears to be working but then goes to a black screen and nothing more happens. I tried running ATI recovery from windows 7 but on reboot and after saying ATI loading it also ends in a black screen. My older version of ATI 11 would not boot the installation or rescue disk.

HP Pavilion dv6, windows 7

Teh 11-8101 build is from the version v11, which precedes 2009, 2010, etc. In other words, it is a very old version.

What you are seeing is most likely an issue of the Linux drivers not supporting the hardware of the system you have now.

The only option is to upgrade to 2012. Register for the trial, and wait for the serial number before installing. When you receive your trial serial number, go to the Acronis.com account, register the seria number there, and download the bootable ISO of the 2012 version (I hope you can do this with the trial S/N). Burn that ISO to a CD and try to boot your computer on it. If this works, do a backup of your computer from the CD. Then, install 2012 in Windows.

The trial rescue CD of 2012 doesn't expire, so you will be able to restore your images, even from older versions.
