ATI 2009 Build 9809 - Unable to create volume snapshot.

Thread needs solution

(Sorry I previously posted this in the wrong section)

I'm getting the following error when I run an incremental or differential backup on my system.
OS: Win XP SP3 with all latest updates.
True Image Home 2009 Build 9809

event code="502" id="8" level="4" message="Operation with partition 1-0 was terminated
Details:Unable to create volume snapshot (0x70021);Tag = 0x2CBDD167CBCA958
Failed to enumerate open files on volume. (0x10C451);Tag = 0x14181C22EF45ADD0
Invalid access to memory location (0xFFF0;code = 800703E6;Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB8B9"

snapapi.dll is version 3.7 build 462

The backup destination is a Thecus N5200Pro NAS and is reachable.

FULL backup runs fine.

How to I resolve this please?

Thanks

I too run XP SP3 with all the updates, and am using build 9809 of ATI. I haven't had this issue. Just for grins, how many drives and partitions do you have, including the backup destination drive?

I have C: and D: drives (same physical drive different partitions)
I have a T: drive which is mapped to a share on the D:
I then have S: and X: drives which are mapped to my NAS.

I don't have a drive mapped to my backup area on the NAS.

I am only backing up the C: partition.

Hi Richard,

Okay, I figured that you had multiple drives/partitions. Try a test to see if one particular issue occurs since this will indicate the possible fix for your issue:

Share all of your drives if they are not already shared. Read-only sharing is fine for this test. Then see if you can browse each drive letter from another computer on the network without getting an error message along the lines of "you may not have permissions..." If you get this error message, then you don't have enough I/O stack space due to so many drives/partitions, ATI installed, and likely also because you have AV software such as Nortons installed. If you don't have another computer on your local network to use to browse the drives on your computer or if you get the mentioned error message, then simply try the following:

Note that you have to reboot your computer after adding/adjusting the IRPStackSize value in your computer's registry. Well, hopefully this will resolve the problem but no guarantees. It can't hurt to try it though.

Thanks for the suggestion.

My IRPStackSize has already been increased to 26 (dec) previously but I have increased the value to 31 now to seee if that helps.

Have started a backup and will report back once it has completed/failed.

Cheers
Richard

Increasing IRPStackSize appears to have resolved the problem.

Thanks for your assistance.
