ATI 2013 freezes or slows computer

Thread needs solution

ATI 2013 was working great until this morning. All of a sudden my wireless network access was useless regardless of the strength of the signal. The computer is very sluggish. Simple operations take 30 sec+ each.

When I view logs in ATI 2013, there are a number of warnings from this morning "Cannot get IDs: error occurred while checking integrity of the task." Also, the schedule service stops every time on system boots up.

I found a possible solution here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/41222#comment-136261 however, I cannot copy the files to the 32-bit location because it keeps saying "a user-mapped section is open." I can't replace the schdul2.exe file even with Administrator privileges.

Any ideas? I'm stuck with a laptop that will not function, that I use for work every day.

While unable to match the detail above from Sherman Cold, I have a similar problem that ATI 2013 seems to work at glacial speed and it's practically not possible to do any thing other than a scheduled task.

My particular problem concerns trying to delete earlier - and no longer needed back-ups to free up disk space in an external hard drive that I use to back up my system. Trying to follow the 'Help' notes on the topic has me in all sorts of trouble because I don't recognise some of the terms and the whole thing moves at such a slow speed and often winds up being branded 'Not Responding' by windows OS.

I can get as far as opening ATI 2013. When I try to delete a specific backup by clicking the 'Backup and Recovery' tab, clicking the 'Recover' button just sets me off in a loop that takes minutes (possibly hours) to respond to the point that the 'Not Responding' box comes up and that's effectively the end of things What does 'Backup Explorer' look like? Screen shots, please, so that I can identify it.

I thought after ATI 2012, that I found practically unusable, that ATI 2013 was great; until now when I actually need to carry out an operation other than an automated backup.

Help, please!
