ATI 2014 and Rescue Media
I used ATI until 2012 and moved elsewhere because the Rescue Disc wouldn't boot my PC - no good in an emergency! Then came "2014" and I tried ATI again. Immediately created a Rescue Disc and it worked!
I've always been a fan of ATI and its saved me on many occasions, so I purchased an upgrade to "2014", installed it and removed the alternative.
Yesterday, Microsoft IE11 was automatically installed during one of their regular updates. It wouldn't work, kept trying to restore web pages until it eventually gave up, so I uninstalled the IE11 update, rebooted my PC and it hung before the completion of all app loads.
To cut a long story short, I restored my C: drive - or tried to! Of course, now I wanted the Rescue Media to work in anger, it wouldn't. Luckily, my PC is dual boot (both are Windows 7 Home Premium, but a 32 bit and a 64 bit copy). So I booted to the other system, set up a restore using ATI, which worked well - the reason I decided to come back!
What happens when I try using the Recovery Media? After the initial "Loading ..." message and selection of ATI 2014, the large splash screen is displayed, then a black screen with "Loading... Please wait", then a plain blue screen with "EN" in bottom right-hand corner, then a small splash panel in centre of the plain blue screen, this then disappears leaving just the plain blue screen with the "EN". Nothing further happens!
Of course, I'm 5 days outside requesting Technical help!
So what have I since tried?
Created a new Rescue Media (CD and USB memory stick - tried both). Rebooted "umpteen" times, pressing F11 and trying various combinations of "acpi=off", "noapic", "pci=bios", "pci=nobios", "pci=biosirq" (not all at the same time!) and "nousb" (didn't get very far at all). There was no change from the usual result with any of these options.
I have not tried downloading the ISO - it never made any difference in the past.
Sorry for the length of this topic.
How do I get my money back?
