ATI 2014 Error Creating WinPE ISO: tib_api.dll Not Found

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

I'm using ATI 2014 Premium - boxed retail version bought locally.

Whenever I try to create a WinPE boot disk using Acronis WinPE ISO Builder (after installing all requisites) I get the following error at the final screen ("Ready to create the Windows PE ISO media"); When I click Proceed, I get the following message:

Source file 'tib_api.dll' cannot be found. Select another folder or reinstall the application...

I have installed everything according the to the (sparse) instructions. The only problem encountered is that it won't let me install .Net 2.0, saying it's already installed - I have .Net 4.5.1 installed.

The file "not found" is there, located in \Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Acronis\TIB and in the 64b directory also.

I have found no info in the KB or this forum, or via Mr. Google.

What am I doing wrong?

TIA.

Mr. Biker

PS: I've used the bootable CD included in the box to successfully restore my system a couple times after using the computer as a test bed for other software. In 20 minutes I was back to where I wanted to be with no issues at all.

Consider another alternative which I think is better than a plain WinPE.

Click on my signature link 10 below.

tib_api.dll should be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\BartPE\WinPE.zip" in /files/ folder and this path should be defined in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Acronis\MediaAddons\Settings registry branch in TrueImageHome value

This did not work. First of all, you were right, the WinPE.zip file did not contain the tib_api.dll file. I tried to add it but the zip file would not let me write to it in it's native path.

I moved it to the desktop and unzipped it, then added it in. Then re-zipped the file and moved it back to the native path (the one you specified).

Working with the zip file, all along the way I had to get around two constand error messages: Access Denied or The system cannot find the path specified.

On the other hand, the path was correct in the registry.

What else could I try?

Thanks.

Hi Grover,

I looked at your link but there's a lot of pages with a lot of ideas.

Can you point me at the correct post on how to build a MustangPEBuilder for Win 7 for use with ATI 2014?

Thanks.

Mr. Biker

Sounds like your WinPE.zip file is corrupt if it doesn't contain tib_api.dll. You should redownload the Media add-on file from the Free Plugins tab of TI 2014 from your Acronis account. Then uninstall the Acronis True Image 2014 Media add-on and make sure the WinPE.zip file is gone. Then install the newly downloaded version and try again.

If the new WinPE.zip file still doesn't contain tib_api.dll, you should contact Acronis support.

MustangPE won't work if there is a problem with WinPE.zip
