ATI 2014 not starting anymore

Thread needs solution

I've been using ATI 2014 for a couple of years now. Last October, I migrated my Windows 10 first to version 1903 and then to 1909 soon after. My Antivirus Suite at that time was Avira. In November (after having much trouble with updating an other computer to Windows 1903) I removed Avira and turned to exploiting Windows Defender on all my computer.

Today I wanted to start another full backup of my entire computer and started ATI 2014. The main screen appeared for About 1/5 s and then disappeared. I assumed the program to be corrupted and deinstalled ATI 2014. After fiddling around with Defender alleging that ATI Websites are unsecure I finally managed to get ATI 2014 downloaded and installed again. No further problems so far. When starting the fresh ATI 2014, however, the same happened as before - very short appearance of the main screen and then … nothing at all.

I put Windows Defender under suspicion and disabled its realtime protection service ("Echtzeitschutz"), but with the same result - ATI 2014 won't start.

What am I doing wrong?

Chris, sorry but Acronis have never supported ATI 2014 for use installed on Windows 10 - the earliest version of ATI for Windows 10 was 2015.

See KB 56196: Windows 10 support in Acronis products

Thanks, Steve, and sorry for my late response - email notifications for responses to my forum activities are activated but don't seem to work.

Strange - ATI 2014 worked so far on all Win 10 versions, including 1903. The more recent change to Version 1909 may not have worked anymore, but to my knowledge this was only an administrative change .

Anyhow, if ATI only works until the next Win version is forced onto my computer I'm wondering whether it makes sense for me to buy me a new ATI version. Regardless which one ...

Christoph, the only other option here would be to try to doing a repair install of ATI 2014 on your Windows 10 system, if it has been installed and working previously.

I would recommend stopping the Program Compatibility Assistant Service before attempting this as it will try to stop the install.  Open Windows Task Manager to the Services page and sort the list of services by Description to find the service and stop it.  Check that it doesn't restart automatically and if it does, open the main Services panel via the link at the bottom of the panel and set it to Disabled for the Automatic Start setting.

See KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings - for how to do the repair install.
