ATI 2014 Premium Image File From Win 7 64bit To A Win 8.1 64bit Partitian

Thread needs solution

Is it possible to install a HDD image from a Win 7 machine to a partitian on a new Win 8.1 machine and for the Win 7 partition to be bootable while the Win 8.1 partitian remains intact?

Thanks,
Bill

It is possible but, you may not want to do so. Have a read of the included link, very enlightening!

Thanks a lot, Bob.

I am trying to install a complete disk image from my old Win 7 machine that has a bad motherboard into a new partition on the new Win 8.1 machine. From what I read in your link, this may be quite a problem, although isn't this just the circumstance that ATI 2014 Premium is designed to do?

Appreciate your help.

Bill

ATI can do the work for you certainly. The issue is the problems associated with dual boot systems. Such system setups have always been problematic and with the introduction of Win 8, 8.1 it is obvious these problems have become more prevelant.

I have built a number of dual boot machines over the years and never had a one that didn't have problems. Some more than others but bottom line always was you spend more time fixing em' than using em'! Choice is yours though. Good Luck with what ever you decide!
